Remember when President Bush nominated the politically moderate Harriett Miers for Associate Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court in 2005 and then, under withering pressure from conservatives, reversed course and nominated Samuel Alito instead? Florida Governor Charlie Crist did just the opposite on January 2, 2009, when he gave in to media pressure and turned his back on known conservative Frank Jimenez, then appointed Appellate Justice Jorge LaBarga for the Florida Supreme Court.
It looks like weve bagged our first RINO of 2009.

Crist, JEB, Bush 41, Bush 43, all RINOs.
DITTO!...........

I’ve given a good amount of $$$ to the RNC over the years. They keep calling and sending mailers.
They phoned a couple of weeks ago and I told them I will NOT be sending them ANY more money until all RINOs are out. Period.
GOOD! Me too, I send back the envelopes with little notes inside. NO MORE RINOS! We want REAL REAGAN CONSERVATIVES IN POWER! I don’t want a single Republican “working with Democrats”. THAT’S HOW WE LOST BIG TIME in the last TWO elections!
Jiminy Christmas, look what Charlie Fudge is up to again.
Jeb is not a RINO. He was an excellent guv’.
NO MORE BUSH’s
No Way, No How.
Keed them down in Fla if you wish. but nationally? Stick a fork in ‘em ‘cause they are done.
On FR, everyone is a RINO. You just have to ask the right FReeper.
Anybody going to see Jim Greer get some love this Friday evening at The Rosen Shingle Creek Resort 6-11 pm? This would be the opportunity for the unwashed masses to tell the patriarchs to stop the left tilt - in person, face to face.
Did anybody get the RPOF email featuring Jim Greer’s denunciation of the Rush Limbaugh Parody, “Barack, the Magic Negro?”
I believe any that supports amnesty is a RINO. And JEB is a big supporter of amnesty.
This is your issue. Others feel the same way about the 2nd Amendment, taxes, abortion, etc. If someone doesn't agree with him on that issue, that person is a RINO.
It seems like many Freepers would like the Republican Party to have exactly two members: themselves and Ronald Reagan. Every other person is a RINO, in one way or another.
Please tell us how he was an excellent governor. Florida has a weak governor system, so usually Florida governors don't make much of an impact.
It does appear to be like that. Indeed.
Amazing << Hear this. Feel this, and tell me that this isn't music.

Relax, John. The year is young.
It’s all in the magnitude of the RINOcity. Some drive the meter higher than others.
I reserve the RINO label for the truly left-leaning Republicans(Snow, Collins, Chafee, Shays, Leach, etc) or those who are more interested in pandering to the other side like McCain.
Did you hear that GHWB has actually endorsed Jebbie for President in 2012, but so far no word on “big brother’s” endorsement?
Jeb is marginally better than 41 or 43.
Marginally.
Remember Terri Schiavo.
You guessed wrong. ...well, actually that depends on how you define "conservative stance", doesn't it?
If I believe anything other than the Catholic doctrine with regard to abortion, am I a RINO?
If I believe in any form or degree of gun control, am I a RINO?
If I believe in free trade with other countries, including China, am I a RINO?
If I believe that my children will probably not be permanently harmed by attending public school, am I a RINO?
(Note: These questions don't necessarily describe my actual beliefs, but they might.)
Every FReeper has his own favorite issue, and many use that issue as their RINO litmus test.
And you are wrong, there are TONS of conservatives out there, we just have to stop accepting the RINOs.
We can all agree on that, but we can't seem to agree on what objectively qualifies one pol or another as a RINO. That's my point.
If you think BIG government can solve every LITTLE problem, you are a RINO.
You put some thought into it and don't indiscriminately use that label. You use it where it truly belongs. Works for me.
Amazing << Hear this. Feel this, and tell me that this isn't music.

Went third party?
Isn’t it ironic that the bush wing of the party was brought to you by: Ronald Reagan?
Ugg. SOB.
This RINO of the Year for 2009 so far not 2008. That should definitely go to McStain, if not Bailout Bush.
Ronald Reagan was not perfect, but he was no RINO. He really believed in conservatism, it wasn’t a smokescreen to gain power. He had a true conversion from liberalism to conservatism back in the 1940’s. When you’ve swung so completely from one to the other you know what you left behind. Today’s Republicans have not experienced a similar transformation. They’ve grown up wishy washy and go with the prevailing winds.
Never said he was perfect...just that it was Reagan’s selection of Bush that lead to “compassionate conservatism”.
Reagan probably had no idea about GW’s “compassionate conservatism” at the time he served. Though he was a compassionate human being, from everything I’ve read about him, only he didn’t have to wear it as a political slogan: it was part of the human being.
Jeb is a new worlder. That’s even WORSE than being a RINO.
Crist-critters, told you so! Crist's a RINO of the Schwarzengger variety but without the muscles.
Run later, Jeb. You cannot run from leaving Terri to die the way you did.
Even Pontius Pilate had his fan club.
Source, please???
Isn't that a close minded assessment and a one eyed issue for one of Florida's best Governors in modern time!!!
True. I wanted to get to this earlier, but I'll go ahead and answer in my own special way.
If I believe anything other than the Catholic doctrine with regard to abortion, am I a RINO?
Yes.
If I believe in any form or degree of gun control, am I a RINO?
Yes.
If I believe in free trade with other countries, including China, am I a RINO?
Unfortunately that protectionist ship has sailed long ago, but I'll say yes even though it probably doesn't matter anymore.
If I believe that my children will probably not be permanently harmed by attending public school, am I a RINO?
Yes, we don't need more sheeple voting.
There, that should eliminate about 90% of Congressional and Senate GOP'ers and half of FR. RINOs, RINOs all of you! :)
“Bush said the GOP should cooperate with the Obama administration in dealing with climate change and reforming the immigration system. And Bush — a fluent Spanish speaker whose wife is Mexican American — singled out for criticism those in his party who have used harsh language in their opposition to illegal immigrants.”
Two quotes from just yesterdays news.
So you think a guy that wants to back Obama on Climate change and Immigration is a GREAT gov...
I voted for him, I won't make that mistake again.
Not rumors!!!
Not only does Jeb support amnesty, but he thinks illegal aliens have a right to collect welfare benefits that Americans are forced to pay for. His version of income redistribution is to take money from Americans and give it to criminal invaders. He’s been a great governor of illegal aliens.

Florida Gov. Bush Calls Tone of Immigration Debate `Hurtful
By Peter Wallsten
April 05, 2006 in print edition A-4
Accusing politicians of pounding their chests on immigration for short-term political gain, Florida Gov. Jeb Bush said Tuesday that the tone of the debate had been hurtful to him and his Mexican-born wife, Columba.
Bush, the younger brother of President Bush, reserved some of his sharpest criticism for conservatives in his own Republican Party, calling it just plain wrong to charge illegal immigrants with a felony, as a provision passed by the Republican-led House would do. He also opposed penalizing the children of illegal immigrants by denying them U.S. citizenship, an idea backed by some conservatives but not included in the legislation.
~snip~
Jeb Bush pointed to the political damage wrought 12 years ago by Californias Proposition 187, in which the states voters backed a plan to strip illegal immigrants of public benefits.
Well that should make for an influential party of self-righteous jerks. :-)
It is sooooo easy for many outsiders to kill the messenger instead of the message, huh!!
Ex. Fla. Gov. Jeb Bush Won't Run for Senate in 2010 (FROM: Townhall) It's a shame, but such a decision was equally inevitable. I like Jeb Bush. He looks to be more conservative than his father or brother, and certainly better on illegal immigration than the latter. People will say that "everybody says 'no'" and that they expect him to go back on his word next year, but I doubt it. If Jeb wants to make a serious run at national office--and I hope he does--he needs to wait a little while, as the half-life of that dark shadow cast upon him by his brother is yet to be determined.!!!
I too think that was the best Jeb had in him. All the sadder. I real man could have and would have used the power of the governor’s office to uphold the duties of the governor. I think it would have pleased Jeb to be pressured into doing the right thing, instead of the wrong thing, but he lacked the necessary courage to do the right thing without overwhelming support from powerful lobbies. How sad.
I didn’t vote for Crist either. Did you see him on Sunday talk? He said there was no GOP breakout leader but that BHO was OUR LEADER. He’s such a pampered fool! Talk about a populist-elitist. That’s Charlie and his green message.
Tom Gallagher would have been better gov than Crist.
STUPID VOTERS!!!!
