CHICAGO (CBS) ― A primary election is set for March 3 and a general election for April 7 to fill the U.S. House seat being vacated by Rahm Emanuel.

Illinois Republicans say the special election could be also be a chance to replace President-elect Barack Obama in the U.S. Senate.

Emanuel is leaving Congress to become Obama's chief of staff.

On the Republican side, Tom Hanson, who ran against Emanuel in 2008, and Illinois Minuteman Project founder Rosanna Pulido are among those reportedly interested.

Virtually all suburban Cook areas in the 5th fall under the Dominion of the new Don of Rosemont, Bradley "The Younger" Stephens ... he serves as the Mayor of Rosemont, the Township Supervisor of Leyden Township, the Leyden Township GOP Committeeman, and, more importantly, the Appointor of Skippy Saviano as GOP State Central Committeeman of the 5th District. Skippy's state rep district overlays neatly with Leyden Township. This should be a real hoot of a campaign.

Note to self: Order body armor tomorrow.
