Jeb Bush Could Divide the GOP (Please, no more Bushes, ever!)
newsmax ^ | Tuesday, January 6, 2009 3:41 PM | John LeBoutillier

Well, the holidays are over and the new year has begun, so let’s get down to business. Here are some 2009 predictions:

...Jeb Bush will be the Bush most in the news in 2009 as he contemplates a U.S. Senate run in 2010. Jeb’s presence — yet another Bush! — will bedevil the GOP for years to come.

If Jeb then tries to run for president in 2012 or 2016, it will divide the GOP; true conservatives will never again accept another Bush. The conservatives will fight it out to settle on one candidate to stop the Bushes from again seizing control of the GOP.

There is something in their blood that does not allow enough conservatism to escape.

There is something in their blood that sells out their supporters in a failed attempt to get approval from their enemies.

I thought Jebby was a strong conservative in his state. Am I wrong?

At least with the current President we have gotten some stellar Supreme Court justices and pro-life laws. Choice between ANY democrat and Jeb, and it is Jebby the whole way. I won’t throw him away because he has a conservative-light father and a mixed legacy brother.

Another Bush is much too close to a political dynasty. I wouldn’t vote for him. Having said that, he should have been the President instead of GW and if he had won his first run for Gov of Florida he would have been Prez instead of W.

We’ve already got a 3rd Clinton term, we don’t need a 4th Bush term. Our country is being run by a Clinton/Bush political dynasty. Enough already!

“true conservatives will never again accept another Bush.”

If true, then the “true conservatives” should stay and will stay defeated until they learn not to act like jilted-teenagers.

“Eeeeeeeeewe. His name is Bush. I’m never gonna like him.”

Welcome to the Stupid Party.

I strongly believe in the Sovereignty of God. President Bush was who we were supposed to have for that particular time. I can’t imagine any President doing better in the immediate aftermath of 911 than W. Yes, his legacy is mixed and I’m disappointed in several of his decisions; but I’m not going mark him as a bad President and given the choice between him or Gore or Kerry, it would again be Bush every time.

Elections? Ha after this election you will never ever see another republican president anyway. So who cares?

Elections are a sham anyway. ie Obama, Frankin for goodness sakes.

Where’s loser John been?... The party has been divided for sometime now. Another Bush wouldn’t divide it any further but neither would another Bush bring it together.

Waiting for the 2012/16 “Sovereignty of God” post:

I strongly believe in the Sovereignty of God. President Obama was who we were supposed to have for that particular time. I can’t imagine any President doing better in the immediate aftermath of the economic crisis than Barrack. Yes, his legacy is mixed and I’m disappointed in several of his decisions; but I’m not going mark him as a bad President and given the choice between him or McCain, it would again be Obama every time.

Where was Newsmax yesterday when Jeb said "NO" to running for the Senate?

I'm still waiting for them to post Obama's father's divorce decree that they had scheduled for Jan. 2nd.

For a news organizations they always manage to stay a day or so behind.

Two points ...

1) The Republican Party isn't divided, as much as it is (for all intents & purposes) dead.

2)"true conservatives" are unelectable in todays society.

Because we got a 3rd clinton term is exactly why it might be possible for another Bush term. This country will be so fed up with the libs running things and the infighting between queen Nancy and that court jester Reid with bozo in the White House that voting for another Bush will be a blessing !

No need for people to get their panties in a twist. Jeb Bush is very unlikely to run for President, especially after seeing his brother raked over the coals repeatedly (and usually unfairly).

I don't know about anyone else, but I absolutely do believe this. As a nation, we have turned our back on God, so He's letting us have just what we want. Obama is our self-chosen punishment.

No, of course many of us didn't vote for Obama. But by our lack of action, we deserve him as much as those who did vote for him.

Yes, give us someone who will stand his ground, defend himself and even fight back. The apparent lack of caring leaves us run roughshod by the Libs and their media buddies who tear this Country and the peasants (us) apart. I want a kick a$$, fight back, conservative who fights like the life of his Country depends on it as it does.

Oh, that's funny. The only reason they are considered is because of their last name.

Two Bushes and both have acted the same - as a quasi-socialist. Why would we think another one would be any different?

Do you feel the same way about the Kennedy or Clinton name?

Jeb would be lucky to get as many Electoral Votes as McCain did in 08.

The Bush brand has lost significantly the last 4 years.

Jeb can thank his bro for that.

Jeb couldn’t get elected dog catcher outside Florida.

If Cedric is correct that,  "Most of you are petulantly, arrogantly, narrow-mindedly, judging future candidates worthiness based on their last name", then why on Earth would you think talking a vote would reveal some future knowledge?  All it will disclose is that which is already known.

The Bushes have never been anything but New England, country club Republicans. GHWB was known to be just one more such Republican, but he became “pro-life” and adopted other positions on issues to become Reagan’s VP. They are just more of that privileged class with inherited money and inherited position that never seems to go away, and they are about as Texan as the Kennedys.

One thing I read said that Prescott Bush was once treasurer of a major chapter of Planned Parenthood, also a businessman and he worked on Wall Street for a time. The Bushes are not conservatives and never have been, and never will be.

But the article makes a critical point: conservatives better settle on one candidate early in 2012, or we’ll again split the vote and end up with a RINO picked by Republicans in blue states that will never vote for the Republican nominee.
