North side of Baton Rough LA 1959. Dad, me (4) and my brother (12) could walk with our .410s (through a small City Baseball field no less) to a patch of woods where we consistently got 2 - 3, sometimes 4 Reds as the place was thick with them. We had a small wooden picnic table with a bracket on it to hold a garden hose in the back corner of the back yard. Scraps were tossed into the dog pen at the very back. By the time we got them to the house they were an 8” bowl of raw squirrel nuggets ready for flower-salt-pepper and the frying pan.
Absolutely delicious.

I probably have a banquet for 12 running around, on the hoof, in my back yard right now. The dogs say they are delicious.

What kind of a critter is that? It’s too big to be a fox, coyotes aren’t that color and Texas red wolves are supposed to be extinct.

Are these "hunters" employees of the queen? Mere serfs can't be allowed any weapons capable of taking down a squirrel. My neighbouring farmers here in Devon, each with a well-stocked armoury of legally-owned shotguns and hunting rifles, would laugh heartily at that comment...

Even 22 cal shot shells can take down a squirrel — they're safer than bullets in built-up areas.

Hunting squirrels is easy. All you need are some walnuts, and a boxing glove.

I just rebuilt my 10/22 and I’ve fallen back in love with the thing.
Especially with the price of 5.56mm ammo.

There are many airguns in England that will take squirrel.
Some of them exceed 1000 fps.
