Many see the repeal of the Glass-Steagall Act as a major, direct cause of the current financial crisis. But it was signed by a Democratic President, Bill Clinton, and supported by many other Democratic politicians, among them the scourge of Bush deregulation Nancy Pelosi. [Emphasis supplied.]

DING DING DING DING

No more calls, please -- we have a winner. No more calls.

Da Boyz Downtown in Wall Street had their way with administrations and politicians of all colors and stripes. As the immortal Ozzie Myers said, "Money talks and ......"

No wonder you’re confused. Dodd isn’t listed on that site. I’ve got a trivia question for you. Who were the top three recipients of campaign donations from Freddie Mac and Fanny Mae?

“You people...are worse than ignorant. You are incompetent citizens...How incompetent are you people?...you GWB cheerleaders...Are you really that dumb?”

Heh, same ol’ RFEngineer. No substance, just a senseless string of personal attacks.

No wonder you’re confused.

Not confused at all. I'm well aware of the liberal policies and actors (going all the way back to Carter's Community Reinvestment Act) that caused this problem. But it all culminated under the nose of the Bush administration who had years to reverse the trend but did nothing. There is plenty of blame to go around. To claim that Bush is not culpable is willful ignorance.

I do agree Bush didn’t try very hard. You are correct. He put out the info but didn’t fight hard for it. He should have done a Reagan and taken it to the people and he would have had a lot more credibility and might have opened some eyes to what was going on.

The GOP has not had much fight in it.

“Heh, same ol’ RFEngineer. No substance, just a senseless string of personal attacks.”

What is more senseless, making excuses for failure, or pointing out that excuses for elected leadership accomplishes nothing?

If you cannot see the results of this failure as substantive and important, then the post is for you. If can, then for cryin’ out loud what are you whining about?

“The GOP has not had much fight in it.”

This is very true, unless you are talking about fighting against conservatives who want to actually lead the party.

In that case, they find their gumption and come out swinging.

Bill Clinton, Henry Paulson, Berneke started the financial meltdown with Greenspan's help, and George Bush was sort of an ignorant bystander. All of them are globalists, playing with the wealth of this country. Now Obama hopes to spend what is left.

Someone once pointed out the single principle of government that the Bush family have never deviated from: the People Like Us principle.

Somehow they conflate "best of breed" with "best of government", a mistake that Mr. Madison and Gen. Washington would not have made.

...but he is as dirty as the rest of them.

I am objecting too you using the term "dirty," but after reading your response I don't think you meant the term "dirty" like I thought you originally did.

Yes, I agree Bush is nothing more than compromising, and coddling to liberals, but I don't think he is a scumbag. (that's how I thought you meant "dirty.")

I think Bush is a decent man with a moderate to liberal, Methodist view of things.

Hey! Just because I turned 37 last month doesn't mean I'm old. Just better. Or something like that...
