When he was first elected, he would spend his night in the House gym, the shower facility close, etc. But when the Dems found out, they refused to let him board down there, so Armey put a fold-out couch in his office. Funny how the Dems wouldn't let Armey do something so reasonable, yet Rangel was been allowed to board his car in the Members' garage for decades, AGAINST the House rules, btw. Typical.
It's not just that the cost-of-living is so high in D.C., all these people must pay for their residence back home as well as provide themselves with living quarters in Washington. I don't see this as a stunt at all.
