Bull!

The Press got Obama elected, not Bush.

Ditto.

And if the detractors are Americans at all, I expect after the next 4 years are over, they will long for the days of Bush.

Does anyone remember anyone in the press asking Clinton his GREATEST mistakes at his final conference.....

Final? They have asked the question at EVERY press conference for the past 5 years!!! He did not cave until after his re-election in '04 and that is all we have heard since. He gave them a couple of bones and they have not let up since.

I think President Bush at his worst moments was far better than traitor Kerry is capable of at his absolute best. I was determined to keep Kerry from being elected and am happy every day that he wasn’t. I am married to a Vietnam Veteran that was in the hospital recovering from the effects of being blown up by a mine in Vietnam when Kerry was having his winter soldier party in D.C. I will never forgive the traitor.

The tactics you speak of- electing a terrible dim so we can get a real conservative to me is cutting off your nose to spite your face. Dims are capable of a scorched earth policy that is dangerous for this country- electing one of the hard core dims for any reason is never a good plan.

You aren’t alone. President Bush will be judged as a good President. Maybe not great, but only due to the bailout.

His exit won't be soon enough.

Oh! You're looking forward to what's coming?

Are you masochistic?

He sure looked a little more relaxed, probably from knowing it’s finally over. I sure will miss him, especially knowing what’s coming next. :0

The press tried mightily to get Carter, Mondale, Dukakis, Kerry, and Algore elected too.

I think you are an idiot.

He also managed to single handedly destroy the Congressional Republicans.

I think they contributed to that themselves!

Thanks for the link.

I watched the whole thing. I am impressed with the quality of character of our president. He was very candid. I expected this event to open a window to his soul and it did.

He is a good man and I hope the best for him.

"THAT was Dubya’s biggest mistake, not defending himself."

Agreed. As to those things he did with which I and many here disagree, he said he was going to do them before being elected. That said, I do bet he wishes now that he was not so wont to sign off on huge spending....

Frankly, for all the crap he’s had to go through during his Presidency, I wouldn’t have blamed him if he had gone up to the podium, told the press “Good-bye and good riddance” and then walked off stage giving them both middle fingers on the way out.

Amen. I agree. I will miss GW and am thankful for him protecting my family and I. If there is a strike on our soil by al Qaeda in an area where BDS disgruntled freepers live, let us see how they feel then.

I, too, will miss President and Mrs. Bush. No human being is perfect, but President Bush has shown maturity, wisdom, resolve, patience and long-suffering. He has had gigantic challenges and has been treated with terrible, undeserved disrespect. I believe his faith in God and his reliance on values and morals has kept him firm in his convictions. I admire his patience in the face of all the media attacks, and privately was wishing he would have told the media off today.

Not to this extent. You have 8 years of “this man does nothing right” coupled with a war, coupled with a downturn in the economy, coupled with a refusal to report ANYTHING whatsoever negative about Obama and the press not only chose our candidate, they chose the President elect.

I have said Bush has been great for terrorism, keeping us safe and the tax issue. Immigration and him saying that he would like to see the republican party be more open where as I think it should stick to it's principles is not what I agree with. I'll say it again for you as you missed it again before. I THANK HIM FOR KEEPING MY FAMILY SAFE AND THE TAX ISSUES, I do not agree with the immigration or Miers. that is praising him and saying I disagree with him on other matters. You seem to want people to write just what you think should be wrote on this and that is not how it goes at all.

"THAT was Dubya’s biggest mistake, not defending himself."

I couldn't agree with you more. While I personally don't agree with some of the decisions he made on various issues that he faced (at least here from my keyboard), the thing I am most disappointed with is that he didn't have the gumption to defend himself against some of the loud voices he spoke of. It would be one thing if these loud voices were agent provocateurs and the like, but some of them were indeed Democrat activists, and elected officials. In not answering THEM, I feel he did himself a disservice, and by extension did the GOP, and our country one as well.

Perhaps the only other thing that still gets me - while on this topic - is that we have heard from the soldiers ON THE GROUND in Iraq (like the sniper interviewed by MSNBC) is that we DID find WMD, and we DID find evidence that Saddam most DEFINITELY had the means and capability of producing MORE, and that Saddam DID move these things SOMEWHERE. In fact, in one instance there is a stockpile somewhere under the sands of the desert and even SADDAM had lost track of where they were, and that Saddam DID have ties to terrorist groups, and he DID help finance 9/11 even if indirectly... (Incidently, we owe a GREAT debt of gratitude to Freeper JVeritas for translating Saddam's documents as our own military didn't have enough manpower to do so. I can't help but wonder if these documents WERE translated by the military whether Bush would've been able to defend himself better on this subject).

All in all, again while I have PERSONAL feeling on some of these issues (like illegal immigration), I know that President Bush did the best possible job he could, and any mistakes or missteps weren't the result of not working hard enough - that's for sure...

Seeing as how we are about to be taken over by a self-admitted (at least when it was convenient) Communist/Socialist I know I will be greatly missing President Bush - even with all his shortcomings.
