Bishop Gene Robinson gets inaugural role

Bishop V. Gene Robinson of New Hampshire, the only openly gay bishop in the Episcopal Church, has been asked to give the invocation at the first official inaugural activity, a welcome event with the president-elect on Sunday afternoon on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial. Robinson had been critical of president-elect Barack Obama for asking Rick Warren, the evangelical pastor who encouraged voters to overturn same-sex marriage in California, to deliver the invocation at the inauguration.

Episcopal Cafe has an e-mail from Robinson:

"I am writing to tell you that President-Elect Obama and the Inaugural Committee have invited me to give the invocation at the opening event of the Inaugural Week activities [SNIP] I am humbled and overjoyed at this invitation, and it will be my great honor to be there representing the Episcopal Church, the people of New Hampshire, and all of us in the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender community."

The Human Rights Campaign, a gay rights organization, praised the choice:

“Bishop Robinson models what prayer should be—spiritual reflection put into action for justice,” [SNIP] “It is encouraging that the president-elect has chosen this spiritual hero for all Americans to lead the nation in prayer at the Lincoln Memorial inaugural concert.”

Although there has been some debate about whether Warren should use the name of Jesus in his inauguration day prayer, Robinson made it clear, in an interview with the Concord Monitor, that he will offer a non-sectarian prayer at the Sunday event. He said he will not use the Bible as his text, saying:

"While that is a holy and sacred text to me, it is not for many Americans," Robinson said. "I will be careful not to be especially Christian in my prayer. This is a prayer for the whole nation."

They push a false faith, they are decidedly of an anti-Christ. They deny Jesus and celebrate sin.

2004 Interview: Obama Talks about Jesus, Heaven and Sin

“OBAMA: Right. Jesus is a historical figure for me, and he’s also a bridge between God and man, in the Christian faith, and one that I think is powerful precisely because he serves as that means of us reaching something higher. And he’s also a wonderful teacher. I think it’s important for all of us, of whatever faith, to have teachers in the flesh and also teachers in history.”

Obama: “There’s the belief, certainly in some quarters, that people haven’t embraced Jesus Christ as their personal savior that they're going to hell.”

GG: You don’t believe that?

OBAMA: I find it hard to believe that my God would consign four-fifths of the world to hell. I can’t imagine that my God would allow some little Hindu kid in India who never interacts with the Christian faith to somehow burn for all eternity. That’s just not part of my religious makeup.

So is Rick Warren out? Is he trying to find room under the bus?

If a heterosexual father of two young daughters left his wife for a newer, younger sex partner, and proundly boasted about that decision, I doubt there would be much support for promoting the adulterer to the position of Bishop. However, since Robinson left his wife for another man, the Episcopal leadership decided that his promotion would represent "diversity".

It's a shame the church didn't consider following Jesus to be as relevant as political correctness in choosing a leader: In a well known passage from Matthew 19, Jesus said, "Moses permitted you to divorce your wives because your hearts were hard. But it was not this way from the beginning. I tell you that anyone who divorces his wife, except for marital unfaithfulness, and marries another woman commits adultery." While Robinson didn't quite marry another woman, I think Jesus's stance on the issue can be inferred from these words.

Luke the Apostle...

Luke was an Evangelist, not an Apostle.

“Robinson said last month the choice of Warren was like a slap in the face. In an interview with the Concord Monitor, he said he doesn’t believe Obama invited him in response to the Warren criticism but said his inclusion won’t go unnoticed by the gay and lesbian community.”

His comments speak volumes to me for where his heart and faith really are and they obviously aren’t in GOD! For him as a bishop to push his gay agenda is just sickening to me. I just don’t get why we are supposed to be so accepting of their beliefs but they aren’t of ours...and loudly and repeatedly say so at every opportunity.

They keep pushing for equality at the expense of everyone else’s. His comments only inflame the situation even more and he can’t even see that. They want to voice their gayness loudly and openly while we are supposed to keep our opinion to ourselves.

If he isn’t going to say a Christian prayer, then what’s the point?

I hope Obama doesn’t have any Catholic prelates waiting in the wings to anoint him, but I would not put it past him . . . or past some of them, for that matter.

Robinson said he doesn't yet know what he'll say, but he knows he won't use a Bible.

"While that is a holy and sacred text to me, it is not for many Americans," Robinson said. "I will be careful not to be especially Christian in my prayer. This is a prayer for the whole nation."

A so-called bishop who never heard of the First Commandment, and who denies that Christ is the Savior. He is just perfect for the installation of a muslim as POTUS.

America has turned her back on Christ and God is turning His back on us.

I'm afraid you are correct.

That is by far the most disturbing piece of society I’ve ever witnessed.

Simply amazing. I’m speechless.

There you have it. While there are so many different prophecies for the upcoming years, from different people, our behavior as a nation is the real indication of why things are bad and are going to get worse. The words of Jesus about lukewarm,I will vomit you out, says a lot sbout Obama.
