We must have Michael Steele at the RNC!
Modern Conservative ^ | January 10, 2009

Here are a couple of reasons why throwing your support behind Micahel Steele is FAR more important than wasting another moment explaining why Chip Saltsman didn't "do anything wrong."

Do I still talk white?

Why we didn't defend Saltsman

Michael Steele for RNC Chairman!

And here is what you do to make this happen. Don't wait—please do it now!

Disagree. He certainly has been making fullthroated RINO noises of late.

And why do we want to “attract independents and moderates” anyway? That’s what caused the defeat in the last election.

Despite his name, I don’t think he owns any guns.

I like Steele a lot, but I prefer Blackwell. Unless Blackwell has his sites on Congress or the Governorship.

I've heard he is not a 2nd Amendment supporter... If true, f'em!

I would not support him in any role in a decent party rooted in conservative principles. The following quote from Steele is a deal breaker:

“Society should draw lines. What do you need an assault weapon for, if you’re going hunting? That’s overkill. But I don’t think that means you go to a total ban for those who want to use gun for skeet shooting or hunting or things like that But what’s the point of passing gun laws if we’re not going to enforce them? If you want to talk about gun control, that’s where you need to start. We’ve got 300 gun laws on the books right now. At the end of the day, it’s about how we enforce the law.
Source: Washington Post interview Oct 16, 2006 “

He is against a total ban, apparently leaving the option of some kind of ban of firearms. Screw him and all the other elitist Beltway Looter Bandits.

Independents and moderates will swing toward the minority party, and they even were this year, before the economic collapse kicked the GOP in the nuts.

Ummm... The 'RATS controlled congress before Nov. 4th. Is your thesis that the independents and moderates were gravitating toward the GOP?

Most people of this ilk thought they were voting for another MLK. Nothing was going to dissuade them from pulling the lever for Zer0.

I would dispute the word ‘handily’ but I agree that the election would have been much closer without the economic collapse.

Steele is exactly what we need? Welcome to FR.

Steele stabbed Andy Harris of Maryland in the back to support the RINO Gilcrest in the race for Maryland's 1st District. Even Ehrlich supported Harris but then again Steele did say:

"“We have to elect moderates in the party"
Steele to CBN’s David Brody.

Is that who we want running the Republican party?

Steele is wishy-washy on 2nd Amendment issues.

No thanks.

McCain may have had a chance of winning because conservatives were holding their nose (hard). I know I was. I would only vote for him if the Dem was Mugabe and Obama is.

The “economic collapse” was engineered by Soros and his short buddies Paulson (not Henry) and Flowers plus others. This was helped by Schumer bashing Indy Mac. Set in motion years before with CRAs, Barney Frank, Fannie & Freddie bustout engineered by Emannuel & Gorelnic plus Raines and others, plus “genius” Rubin at Citi.

Bush also has done little in office since 2006. He should have had Chris Cox at SEC reinstate the uptick rule on shorting but the GOp had no clue. ron paul did and probably Romney and maybe Fred.

Notice that he does not mention any right of self-defense or the right to carry concealed.
