So Yellowstone, the super volcano, is again rumbling? Mercury has been detected throughout the national park (not a good sign) for quite sometime and along with it the ground under Yellowstone Lake is rising.
More than 250 earthquakes reported during a 24-hour period ...
Scientists monitoring Yellowstone have stated that it has entered into what they have described as a "red zone."
Remember Mount St. Helens? The feds warned folks in the region around the mountain to vacate, and most did. Some (a few) didn't.
It's been reported that the feds will issue a vacate order to the inhabitants of Wyoming, if time allows, for such a mass exodus ...
The Yellowstone Caldera is linked to a massive complex of subterranean tunnels that are miles deep in the earth, and which are connected to other volcanic zones such as Mount Shasta in California, Mount Rainier in Washington state and the volcanic caldera located in Bend, Ore., all of which are at this very moment showing signs of seismic activity similar to what Yellowstone is experiencing, that has many in the scientific community pondering as to what it all means.

one of the quakes was centered at a depth of 37 MILES
That would be an understatement. The YS supervolcano is a not so sleeping monster, that is a bit overdue for a wake up call. There will be no place to evacuate to, except maybe Iceland, for a while...
Obama the messiah will save them.< /sarcasm>
shhhh
Obama shall charm it to sleep. Let him work his magic.
George Bush's final act of defiance.
obamas fault
If it wasn't for millions of innocent people getting killed, it would be a hoot.
If King Hussain’s coronation speech doesnt’ put it to sleep, nothing will. You will be able to have a drinking game for, “injustices of the past”. That game would make a sailor puke.
Pray for W and Our Troops

We’re DOOMED I tell you!
DOOMED!!
Does the volcano have a EU approved carbon emissions permit?
If not, it’s not allowed to emit Carbon, Sulfur, Mercury and other elements.
Therefore a No Eruptions order will be issued.
Signed....AlGore.
If it blows Obama will be the least of our worries.
Is this going to come before or after the asteroid hits us, the tsunami wipes out both coasts, the ice caps melt and flood half the country or the deadly virus kills 3/4 of the population. I guess we’ll just have to sit back, get the popcorn out and wait...

Ahhh, this is pure, unadulterated BS. The letter writer needs to adjust his foil beanie.
F’d the diet. Full Ice Cream, big spoon, goodbye crew pint!
Mt. Shasta too? And just as I was planning to spend another summer lying around naked on Squaw Meadow...!
If it looks like the caldera is going to blow, I would consider heading closer to the epicenter.
The next 10 - 20 years would be a trying time for humanity. Only the very strongest will survive.
Saw it on the made-for-tv disaster movie last year. Boring.
Its not red its green.
YELLOWSTONE VOLCANO (CAVW#1205-01-)
44.43°N 110.67°W, Summit Elevation 9203 ft (2805 m)
Volcano Alert Level: NORMAL
Aviation Color Code: GREEN
Small Earthquake Swarm on 9 January 2009 near northeast corner of Yellowstone Caldera
A currently modest swarm of earthquakes began in the northeast corner of the Yellowstone Caldera, about 10 miles (16 km) NNE of the north end of the Yellowstone Lake swarm that was active in late December and early January. As of 1930 MST, 10 earthquakes had been located by the University of Utah Seismograph Stations, the largest with M= 3.3 and two other events with M >2.0. Located depths are between 2 and 4 km.
Yellowstone Volcano Observatory staff and collaborators are analyzing the data from this and from the earlier Yellowstone Lake swarm and are checking for any changes to the thermal areas located near the epicenters. We will provide further information as it becomes available.
Yellowstone and the cascades are all green this is just fearmongering.
Yeah right, they say its green and then quietly fly thousands of miles away to an underground bunker.
I think some may be over estimating the possible destruction just a tad if it does erupt. However, it would surely destroy some beautiful country in and around Yellowstone.
We have a beautiful view of what remains of Mt. St. Helens from our place, it’s about thirty miles to the north of us. Hopefully it doesn’t erupt again cuz I’m gettin’ too old for that stuff. :)
Uh oh.......

Not sure where the 250 quakes comes from but this is reporting 41 in the last week, most small.
While YNP has a rich history of volcanic activity, I sure hope this place does not go up in rock, dust and lave. It seems the the latest quakes are not under the lake, per the U of Utah seismic study area.
It would make a large mess.
Old Harry Truman had a plan.
not the president.
Al Gore needs to buy my concept of volcano credits to mitigate all effects if an eruption does occur. I could retire and buy my own island if Al Gore pays my price.
I meant “lava”, my fat fingers.
Subterranian tubes connecting Mt. Shasta and Jellystone...wot a crock.
I’m safe here in South Florida, right?
If YS blows, we won’t have to worry about global warming, only the lack of it. Iceland wouldn’t be my first pick on a place to go.
FWIW - if you follow global wind patterns, your #2 choice would be Vladivostok.. do rethink your answer...
We are all moving to your home.
I “think” you would be fine...except for all of your “pals” from Montana and Idaho moving in with you.
The threat level was green on 9/10/2001 too...
No sense in worrying about things I have no control over. Like naturally occurring volcanoes, and Global warming.

It has been 640,000 years since the last eruption, so we are way overdue and living on borrowed time. Either hunker down and say your prayers, pack up and get at least 2000 miles away, or wait until next Tuesday afternoon and all will be fine. "
Are you near Rush? If yes then you are safe.....
After voting and later seeing the results, I realized I had no control over anything. :-(
They're just hoping that a mega-eruption will allow them to keep publishing their rag /sarc>
Cheers!
I’ve been to Vladivostok. I’d rather suffer right here in the Black Hills of South Dakota.
I’ve been following the seismic activity in Y for a couple of weeks now. Also, some harmonic tremors have been picked up on the Yellowstone seismos. (indicative of magma or hydrothermal movement) It seems to lie dormant for a couple of days and then pick back up. Who knows? Not a darn thing we can do about it.
This is really starting to worry me. I know there has been activity there for years, but it’s increasing like labor pains (not a biblical reference, just a reference intensity).
Does anyone think this could really be ready to go?
And if it does, could it be a minor eruption? Is that possible? Just a small (big of course, but not like nuclear winter big) eruption that is more local than over half the country?
"George Bush's final act of defiance."
Said God - hey, what are you looking at me for? Obama's minister said "God Damn America." So I waited to see what the people would do. And they elected Obama! So - HERE GOES - LOOK OUT BELOW!
As for 0bambi, picture him post-eruption in his brand-spanking new Rocky Boots, Levis, Carhart chore coat, Stetson, and Mulehide work gloves doing the obligatory walk-through for the MSM photo op.
Yaaaaaaaaa. Talk about your “Katrina moment?” lol
