Big Brother's new target: Tracking of all firearms
WND ^ | January 13, 2009 | Drew Zahn

U.S. Rep. Bobby Rush, D-Ill., is hoping to pass a firearm-licensing bill that will significantly rewrite gun-ownership laws in America.

Among the more controversial provisions of the bill are requirements that all handgun owners submit to the federal government a photo, thumb print and mental heath records. Further, the bill would order the attorney general to establish a database of every handgun sale, transfer and owner's address in America.

The bill claims its purpose is "to protect the pubic against the unreasonable risk of injury and death associated with the unrecorded sale or transfer of firearms to criminals and youth."

I read stuff like this and all I can do is shake my head in disbelief.

I used to say, "What part of 'shall not be infringed' do they NOT understand?"
But now...I am convinced that they don't give a shiite about anything the Constitution has to say. The country of our fathers is most assuredly and truly dead.

Their worldview does NOT value the Constitution for the same reason they place no value in tradition or culture.

They view themselves, and especially their elites, as being better capable of making decisions than anyone in the past ever could. Contracts, vows, and Constitutions hold less weight than an individual making decisions based on current, modern knowledge, which is inherently in larger quantity now than when the contract/vow was made.

After reading this string yesterday, I plunked down $450 for another 1,000 rounds of .223 and a couple more AR clips.

I dunno. It seems like everything is spiraling out of control?

I may be behind the curve here, but where the heck do they get the power to do this? Never mind the 2nd amendment, what about expressed powers?

I’m all for protecting the “pubic”.

I'd much rather protect my pubic without government help.

“Thanks for the warm wishes, but no gun owner I know voted for Obama.”

I was surprised to see an 0bama bumper sticker on a pickup when I was at the range a few weeks ago. It was a Sunday and the place was mobbed.

This will tell if those Democrats really represent their districts!

Fears of the coming Obamanation is why I held my nose and voted for McCain.(And that Palin might have steered McCain to the conservative path.)

It’s imperative that you disarm a free people before you can enslave them. This is and has always been the goal of the left. Thanks Bobby. I’ve just purchased the rest of my Walmart’s 9mm rounds. And that new 12 guage pump I’ve been putting off...you can come see it tomorrow afternoon. By the way, please hold your breath until receiving my thumb print and handgun information.

Requiring registration and licensing of guns already owned...

What do you all think the compliance rate will be?

This will be an issue where gunowners will have to “hang together or hang separately”.

Let me see if I understand this: A Chicago political hack, previously convicted of a firearms offense, wants to pass a law to eliminate my RKBA.

The very definition of "Uppity".

To all you gun owners in IL, IN, PA, OH, CO, WA, and FL who voted for Obama... I hope you lose your guns first.

Strange statement from someone whose FR page flies the Massachusetts state flag.
