President Bush has declared Washington DC in a state of emergency. The emergency: the inauguration of Barack Obama. This promises to be the most expensive inauguration in history, costing over $150 million.
Upwards of 2 million people are expected to attend .. are you ready to sue over those lines at the port-a-potties? Anyway, Bush did this so that unlimited funding could be released to help local authorities pay for the event. Mostly security costs.
Just for kicks .. take a look at this article from Bush's last inauguration. The liberals are throwing a fit over the cost and extra security.

As you can imagine, that is nowhere near what we are gearing up to spend for Obama. For liberals it's the end of the world when big bucks are spent for the inauguration of a conservative Republican, but business as usual and entirely justified when the same bucks - and more - are spent on a coronation of the most liberal president in our nation's history. You can't accuse the left of hypocrisy though .. only conservatives can be hypocrites.

If his first day is the most expensive in presidential history, we can only imagine how expensive the rest of his time will be in office. Of course expensive in money is not the kind of expensive I’m worried about.
It's at $161Million and he's still not protected?

For all Americans going through financial hardship right now and for those laid off, and for those that have lost your life’s earnings and for those that are contemplating dire measures because you are a victim, take heart knowing that Obama has worked very hard to get you your bail-out money.
And its paying off.
For his inauguration party.
No, no, no - somebody got it all wrong. What the president said was, “this Obama presidency is going to be a disaster,” and someone thought he was declaring a federal emergency...
And how about the other 57 states???

What article?? Link goes to Sundance film festival website and interviews.
$160M for an innauguration ceremony and celebration for a new President for either party sounds obnoxious.
Someone should ask Obammmmmo if he could spare a little of the $160M for a little wealth re-distribution? Give some to public schools, because it’s all for the children... Please Obambi, save Johnny’s screwel!
WHOA BABY!! Ignore my post above. Somehow, my clicking on it went to Sundance. Didn’t happen the second time.
Oh you better believe there is some distribution going on, he probably got his wife another rock.
“This promises to be the most expensive inauguration in history...”
You can say that again; just wait until out-of-control government spending cranks up and shifts into overdrive - hide your wallets, America, the net cost of this inauguration will never be paid off!
Obama’s pooping 150+ million dollars on his silly coronation takes food from the mouths of the poor black babies. Ya gotta luv that!
Hypocrisy, thy name is Democrat.
.
Don't worry. We'll be a continuous state of emergency the next four years - if the Country lasts that long.
There is an pre-ad for the Sundance Film Festival at the link. To get to Salon, there is a tiny link at the top right corner of the screen, that says, “Enter Salon”. This is the worst pre site pop up ad ever. It is full page and full of graphics and video and the link to enter the Salon site blends in and hides itself in the Sundance full page popup.
Thanks for the explanation. Thought I hit a wrong key or something. Agree it has to be worst pop-up ad ever (and I have them turned-off on Firefox, too).
Can you believe we have to pay for all this krap!?
