The so-called "Iranian Unit" of Hamas has been destroyed, according to Gaza sources cited Thursday by the Haaretz daily. The sources said most of the unit's 100 members were killed in fighting in the Zeytun neighborhood of Gaza City.
The terrorists had been trained in infantry tactics, the use of anti-tank missiles and the detonation of explosives, among other skills, by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard at Hizbullah camps in Lebanon's Beka'a Valley, as well as sites in Iran.
The IDF Southern Command has reportedly stepped up ground operations in Gaza, in anticipation of a ceasefire declaration in the near future. Senior officers said Thursday that there are probably no more than a few days until the end of the fighting.
According to the Arab sources, when that happens Iran will send money to assist Hamas in restoring its military capabilities, in addition to the more widely-publicized program of rebuilding destroyed homes.
Hamas: We Didn't Expect it Two captured terrorists interviewed by Maariv/NRG say that Hamas was not expecting Israel's response to the escalation in missile attacks on Israeli targets that preceded Operation Cast Lead. One of them, a 52-year-old victim of a premature detonation who had already done time in an Israeli jail, said, "Hamas took a gamble. We thought, at worst Israel will come and do something from the air - something superficial. They'll come in and go out. We never thought that we would reach the point where fear will swallow the heart and the feet will want to flee. You [Israel] are fighting like you fought in '48. What got into you all of a sudden?" The second terrorist, a 21-year-old, said Hamas brought order to Gaza, but also brought fear. He noted that it was dangerous in Gaza for non-Hamas members, citing an instance of his being beaten and another in which he saw a friend killed when he went to get gas. "Now they're all gone," he said. "There have been no Hamasniks in the streets since the start of the campaign."
Israel has to finish this business quickly, times running out.
Last words:”What’s that whistling sound?”
boom.....!
The Israelis trained them in a new skill....
burning in hell.

I wouldn't mind being in a war game with these ladies coming to rescue me as a "hostage."
..”You [Israel] are fighting like you fought in ‘48. What got into you all of a sudden?”
LOL!
Too bad you are still alive to say it.
This entire article ought to be required reading.
Finish off Hamas then turn to Hizzboland.
Ten mile wide radioactive zone between Gaza and Israel should help....just a suggestion.
This is precisely why Israel needs to keep going.
Don’t quit until there is no one left to come out and play. Don’t quit until the top names in the Hamas org chart are either dead or in exile. And those that have fled, don’t let them come back. If they come back, target them and don’t let up until they’ve fled back out of the territory or they have assumed room temperature.
'Bout time.
Being destroyed can ruin your whole day.
Better yet a 10 mile wide radioactive from the Isreali border into Gaza.
Of course it took me a little bit to even notice their feet. ;-)
Works for me.
Sounds like an "irregular combatant" to me. Give him a choice: noose or firing squad.
Suprise, suprise!
George Bush is leaving office, Hussein will be president very soon. It's called making hay while the sun's still shining.

They blowed up real good!
“The terrorists had been trained in infantry tactics, the use of anti-tank missiles and the detonation of explosives, among other skills, by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard at Hizbullah camps in Lebanon’s Beka’a Valley, as well as sites in Iran.”
Then for their final training they all went to Gaza and the IDF taught them all how to die.
Here end’th the lesson.
JB
BO Hussein is coming
Should provide some comfort for those who will be involved in the coming dust-up with iran.
HOT DOG! Hamas, I have but one word for you: DIE DIE DIE!
No cease fire please. Allow Israel to kill as many Islamofascists as possible. There is no good Hamas as a dead Hamas or Iranian thug. Any peace proposals will kill Israel and by proxy, America. Hil and BO will not be able to negotiate with any Islamo but they don’t see that. Wait till the Islamos kill any of our people, military or other, oh then they will be in high dudgeon!
They have less than a week to destroy Hamas. If they fail, the muzzies will eventually slaughter every last Isreali child.
These ladies work as Customs agents.... Points of Entry!!
GOD Bless Them!!!!!!!!!!!
Hehe. That's certainly a difference in gender - as a woman, the first things I noticed were their shoes!
Jeez, the jokes just write themselves.
what got into them? 0bama coming into office means a lack of US support/intelligence. git ‘r done while you can... then hunker down for a bad 4 years
Not real familiar with the dimensions of Gaza/Southern Israel are you?
High volume. Articles on Israel can also be found by clicking on the Topic or Keyword Israel, WOT

Amateurs trained by irregulars meet the pros, with predictable results. I recall a blood-curdling photo of an Iranian training camp in which the trainees were jumping through flaming hula hoops. Fine, I guess, if you’re applying for a job at the circus but in the field that’s probably only going to help you if you have to haul yer sorry butt out of a building your enemy just blew up around you...
Gaza isn’t even 10 miles wide.
International law backs Israeli actions.
Regarding Israel, Gaza and international law (Opinion, Jan. 8):
Professor Jonathan Graubart accuses Israel of besieging Gaza, and implies that it is a violation of international humanitarian law. I know a thing or two about international humanitarian law as I belonged to the legal team of the International Committee of the Red Cross, which worked hard at updating the 1949 Geneva Conventions with two new treaties called Additional Protocols. There is nothing in these instruments that outlaws a siege in response to constant attacks by a pathologically aggressive and genocidal neighbor.
Next, Graubart repeats the latest canard that Israel must show that its actions are proportionate. How so? By lobbing a rocket at random over Gaza for every rocket fired by Hamas over Israel? Would that make the unilateral critics of Israel happy? The Palestinian casualties would have been horrendous, and Israel refused to stoop that low. It held its fire and endured the constant barrage for eight long years.
Overall, Graubart uses international humanitarian law only to bolster his prejudice and hold Israel accountable for unintended casualties inflicted within the Palestinian population of Gaza, while saying next to nothing to demand the same of Hamas for its fully intentional attacks. International law is not a candy store where you pick and choose what suits you. As in any civil society, the same rules apply to everybody. Hamas is no exception. Consequently, it would have helped to point out that Hamas has in fact committed what the Geneva Conventions refer politely to as grave breaches, which means war crimes, on at least three counts: lobbing rockets over civilian areas without any ability nor intention to distinguish between military and civilian targets, hiding its forces behind its own civilian population, and hiding arsenals, command and control centers and troops in patently civilian buildings.
In each case, the absolute immunity that civilian installations and civilian populations are entitled to under international law was automatically waived the second these installations or populations were used for military purposes. Humanitarian law is crystal clear on this point. Israel is therefore entirely in its right to destroy mosques filled to the rim with weaponry or houses hiding Hamas command centers, to name only two categories of otherwise illegal targets turned into lawful military objectives by Hamas' actions. The resulting casualties are Hamas' sole responsibility, and the critics should give blame where blame is due, not accuse Israel for merely defending itself.
JEAN-JACQUES SURBECK
Who is he? Jean-Jacques Surbeck, is a Swiss-American peace activist and lecturer and is a former Official of the International Committee of the Red Cross!
fantastic sense.
if only our enemy were interested in sense
Not particularly, but you get the drift none the less, right?
Picky, picky, picky....(chuckle)
Gaza isnt even 10 miles wide.
Ten and half wide should do it then.
In view of this new legal opinion, I relent. He can have a last cigarette, too.
I was hoping they would be “surprised”. LOL
I knew your point, yes. It’s just that 10 miles from the NE corner of Gaza would almost reach to the West Bank, cutting Israel in half with a big radioactive zone.
I do like the original sentiment tho’.
I ‘knew’ that...just quick posting to make a point.
well, it was practical given their performance.
Hizbullah has been pouring loads of concrete for fortifications bunkers and tunnels
Plus they are Shi'ite so Iran helps them more than Hamas which is Sunni
But Israel is doing great, is on a very steep learning curve and has many lessons worth applying in Hizzbo-land
I'm sure the Hizzbullah are appalled at how Israel is having its way with Hamas and Gaza in general
I love the press lockout...Israel is banning the world press from Gaza and need to do the same in the future
The Israeli Supreme Court ordered Gaza to open to the press
But the IDF told them to get lost
Quite a letter!
My take is the restive Muslim populations in European nations has forced many Europeans to smarten up about Israel vs Islam
The lower the oil price, the less patience people have with Islamo-wack-jobs
BOOM !!! Keep up the great work :)
Is that Raheem taking a shower at the top of the explosion :-))
