This morning President & Mrs. Bush departed the White House for Camp David, Maryland, where they will spend their last weekend as the First Couple before Tuesday’s inauguration.

Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice gave her final press conference today at the State Department in Washington. She also met with Israel’s Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni. Dr. Rice’s last official act as Secretary of State was signing a memorandum with Foreign Minister Livni that will help prevent arms smuggling to terrorists in Gaza.

And today Press Secretary Dana Perino delivered the Administration’s final press briefing (Transcript). Dana took time to pay tribute to her predecessor Tony Snow and to all the members of the White House press staff. But one name was conspicuously absent from her remarks.

Q Dana, you mentioned Ari and Tony, but I don't think I heard you mention Scott. Was that a slight or was that -- was anything deliberate --

Dana: No harm meant, I just didn't mention him.

What did you think of his comments [on MSNBC] last night?

Dana: I didn't bother watching them.

One last weekend at Camp David..all bitter sweet.. I suppose they are having their personal things loaded on moving vans today and over the weekend. I feel like this is a funeral. I’ll miss Dana’s press meetings with that annoying bunch..she can handle em for sure. Condi and the rest of the troop too all for different reasons.
I hate to see the carpetbaggers moving into 1600...makes me ill. I hope there will be photos of President Bush and Laura as they return to Midland..I have no interest in seeing what the black widow will wear to the balls..none of it.. Historic maybe ..too bad it isn’t a person of color who has merit.

Our nation is blessed to have citizens who volunteer to defend us in this time of danger. I have cherished meeting these selfless patriots and their families. to his prime duty. I’m really glad he reiterated
the irrefutable reality that’s no accident and
that folks have taken for granted:

we have not suffered another homeland attack since 9/11,
thank God, President Bush and our incredible military.

God help us in the coming days.

"It is the police shield of a man named George Howard, who died at the World Trade Center trying to save others. It was given to me by his mom, Arlene, as a proud memorial to her son.
