Secret Service agents on Friday arrested a man in Mississippi who wrote a series of entries in an Internet chat room saying he intended to kill President-elect Barack Obama, the Justice Department said.
The man, Steven J. Christopher, who is from Wisconsin, was arrested in Brookhaven, Miss., for making threatening entries on Jan. 11, 15 and 16, said Dunn Lampton, the United States attorney in Jackson.
The entries, which included racial and anti-Semitic remarks, were on a Web site that features information and articles about extraterrestrials, government conspiracies and unexplained physical phenomenon.
Mr. Lampton said, "Threats against the president-elect will be taken very seriously."

Authorities didn't say whether Christopher had weapons, but the affidavit said he wrote in his posting that he did not own a gun and needed one donated.
"And I'll need a leak in the secret service to get a close up shot, somewhere close to the podium, since I've never fired a gun, so I need to an easy shot off," Christopher was quoted as saying. "Wattdysay fellas? Any help?"

The guy didn’t have the proper liberal credentials. If he made a movie about assassinating Bush, he could travel around the country, unmolested by leftist secret service Schutzstaffel.
Don’t rule out the possibility that the guy was turned in to the Feds by the site owner, or one of the other commenters.
President Bush has been threatened time and time again by the left and we never saw these types of arrests made.

Big difference between a film dramatizing an assassination and someone making a declarative threat to kill the POTUS. The guy started a thread, used the threat as the headline, and solicited money and a weapon for the deed. He wasn't trying to hide it in the comments.
He was literally asking for the Feds attention, and he got it.
When I read that Obama would be doing a "whistle stop" tour on his way to inauguration day my first thought was "who's idea was that?" Hundreds of miles of tracks, bridges, overpasses, etc. to check. Plus, they've advertised the route and the stops the train will make weeks in advance. I would imagine that the Secret Service, military and/or various police agencies would have to physically walk the tracks and search everywhere for any possible threat. I would think that this type of travel for Obama at this time would be a security nightmare for all involved unless it's all a diversion. Seems like it would be a lot safer for him to fly into DC unannounced, then motorcade to the Capital building.

WHOA there cowboy! I never said a word about whether or not Obamalamadingdong cared about the hardship, extra work, inconvenience and/or anything else similar with regard to his train trip. I merely pointed out that his train trip is a well published security nightmare. A logical mind would infer from my comments that he is putting himself at considerable risk by his chosen method of travel to the inauguration simply because of this method of travel, regardless of what he does regarding security. All hardships and extra work aside, there are clearly much safer ways to get to DC on inauguration day.
Since you mention the lack of media outcry about the expense of his ascension, with costs rumored to be at least 4 times what GWB spent on the last inaugural (when the media went nuts), why does this lack of outrage surprise you? The media has been in the tank for Obamalamadingdong since at least the Iowa caucus.....and that is one key reason why he is about to be POTUS.
Another key reason is that he's black (really, he is).
At least that's what I've heard.
And, FWIW, we did *not* have an “election” in November.
We were merely an audience to a well-rehearsed pantomime; a staged play with a forgone conclusion.
At 8 AM, on election day, one of my most beloved dogs suddenly and unexpectedly passed away in my arms.
I held in my tears long enough to drag myself out to vote any way, honestly believing/hoping/praying that I was wrong about the seemingly inevitable outcome.
I should have stayed home and grieved for Izzy, instead.
IMO, there will never be another “real” election, again.
The enemy within has finally perfected the dark art of stealing a “win”.
At this point, -nothing- about this so-called “president” surprises me.
I expect the worst of him and I doubt that I will be disappointed.
I cringe when I think about what our country will be like [or what will be left of it] four years from now.

Sorry about the loss of your furry friend. My 3 labs are at my feet now. My oldest is about to turn 9 in February. She is, by far, the best dog I've ever had. I know her time is growing shorter by the day as Labs tend to not live much beyond 12 or 13. When she leaves us it will be one sad day around my house. My condolences on your loss.
With all my heart and soul, I hope and pray that all of your Labs set world records for longevity.
