Israel declares ceasefire in Gaza
Israel is to halt its three-week military offensive against Hamas militants in the Gaza Strip, Prime Minister Ehud Olmert has said.
Israel had achieved the aims of its operation, Mr Olmert said, and a unilateral Israeli ceasefire would take effect from 0200 (2400 GMT).
Earlier, a Hamas spokesman said it would fight until its demands were met.
Nearly 1,200 Palestinians have been killed since the violence began on 27 December. Thirteen Israelis have died.
Minutes before Mr Olmert was due to speak, a rocket was fired from Gaza, a BBC producer in Gaza said.

for every rocket , or group of launches , that Hamas continues to make , the IAF should target the approximate launch site
with their largest munitions and just level the area .
They also need to tidy up the matter of the surviving Hamas leadership . These chaps should be meeting with unfortunate
accidents wherever they are to be found . No ROE’s

Could be they ran out of viable targets. That is, unless they attack Syria where the rest of the Hamas leadership is staying.

And how long with this last until Hamas or one of other Israel’s enemies attack Israel again ???

There should be 10,000 Palestinian casualties for every Israeli casualty. That would create peace real fast.
As far as I am concerned, every Palestinian in Gaza is viable target, as they are all Hamas supporters. Twelve hundred out of a population of 1.3 million? Israel has barely started and they are quitting. Please.

Personally. I agree. The IDF should’ve turned all of gaza into rubble and killed many thousands more. I wish Netanyahu were the PM. Ohlmert is way to soft on terror.

Kind of thought this would happen about now. Unmentioned in the Israeli cabinet statement, of course, is the “800 pound gorilla in the room”: the coming annointment of “Osama” Obama.
