Oscar-winning actor Lou Gossett Jr. will be in Boston tomorrow to celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. Day with the Boston Children’s Chorus at the nationally televised “Raising The Roof” concert.

But don’t expect to see the “An Officer and a Gentleman” star at the Inaugural Purple Ball in D.C. this week, because Lou and the organizers have parted ways - and not on the best of terms!

Gosset has never really struck me as a 100% "Hollywood Herd Animal." Anyone who can turn out the great performance that he did in Enemy Mine has to have a reasonable head on his shoulders.

Enemy Mine is a greatly under rated movie. Gosset gave and amazing performance.

I’m not exactly sure how Patricia Arquette, Bill Harris, Jimmy Smits, Halle Berry, Eva Longoriaand and Edward James Olmos were supposed to entertain. I mean, were they gonna give dramatic readings?

I have heard of two of those celebrities and could pick maybe one out of a lineup (not including Barry O)

I mean, were they gonna give dramatic readings?

Maybe they'll read passages from "Dreams of My Father" and other Bill Ayers books.

I thought Brion James stole the movie.

Now Gosset knows, there is no true diversity. He needs to stand back from the Matrix and view what is really going on.

I thought Brion James stole the movie.

It took me forever to realize that Nick Nolte was saying "Kehoe" instead of "Keyhole" (as possibly a replacement for a-hole") for Brion James' role in 48 Hours...God rest his soul.

Wow, no one’s posted a screenshot yet of his role as an Ori Prior? With an Obama pin photoshopped in?

I read somewhere about him that he lives a fairly simple life centered around a large sailboat. And supposedly a pretty intelligent man.
Sailing without a crew eventually involves math, reality, and judgement. Hes supposed to actually be pretty professional in matters of sailing.

Even though im sickened at the thought of Obama, I can see how a black American might be pretty excited about it. But its nice that Gossett has limits and walked.

I think the idea is to just stand there and bask in their presence. Absorb the aura of their magnificence. All they need do for that is be in the room.

Gadzooks! I can think of several ways... Halle and Eva could entertain me!

Lou Gossett Jr. is a great actor. Unfortunately, if you read the article, his complaint was the performers weren’t “diverse” enough. The chairwoman of the ball chose a “paler state of celebrity guests - Ashley Judd, Patricia Arquette, Josh Lucas, Ed Harris and Kate Walsh.”

Davidge: You know something, Jerry? Your great Shismar ain’t shit!
Jerry: [angry] Earthman, your Mickey Mouse is one big stupid dope!
[Davidge tries not to laugh]
Davidge: [after Jerry saved Davidge from sand monster] You saved my life. Why?
Jerry: Maybe I need to look at another face... even one as ugly as yours.
Davidge: So you still think humans are ugly?
Jerry: Compared to a Drac? VERY ugly. But that thing out there... is even more ugly than you.
Davidge: [sarcastic] Thank you.
Jerry: [grinning] You... are... welcome.
[last lines]
Narrator: And so, Davidge brought the Dracs home. He fulfilled his vow, and brought Zammis before the Holy Council on Dracon. And, in the fullness of time, Zammis brought its own child before the Holy Council, the name of Willis Davidge was added to the line of Jereeba.

If he comes away from this with a bit more understanding of the basic hypocrisy of the Democrats, it could work out for the better.
