With Barack Obama's approval ratings in the 70s and his visage plastered on every shop window and Metro card in Washington, it's hard to remember that 58 million Americans voted for the other guy.
Even President Bush who presumably counts himself among that group said last week that Obama's inauguration is "a moment of hope and pride."
That's not exactly how Michelle Malkin describes it.
"Jan. 20 has turned into a schlock inauguration, (where) every last moocher has come to cash in on Obama," says the conservative blogger and pundit. "There are some of us who want to bang our heads against the wall."
While most Republicans now in office are saying all the right things about Tuesday's proceedings roll tape on "peaceful transfer of power" and "historic moment for the country" sound bites some conservatives can't quite get themselves in the "We Are One" mood.
Not even for a day.

"Liberalism is just Communism sold by the drink." P.J.O'Rourke
One is reminded of that African dictator who wore a 32 foot robe (or some ridiculous number) at his coronation.
Thanks for posting this article.
from the story:
Even President Bush who presumably counts himself among that group said last week that Obama’s inauguration is “a moment of hope and pride.”
To be followed by four years of disappointment.
“With Barack Obama’s approval ratings in the 70s....”
Stop. Right. There.
I reject the opening premise of the Left PropagandaPoll.
Too often, the liberal media is allowed to define the battlefield before the argument even starts.
Whatever happened to the Left’s mantra during the last eight years:
“DISSENT IS PATRIOTIC”*
*the left’s hypocrasy is showing again.
By Friday what will the media have to write about?
People who wake up with hangovers and realize they still have to pay their bills, listen to 4 years of uplifting canned speeches, and read about Michelle Obamas descent into Stepford wifedom and rebirth of the new black Jackie-O??
I’m wearing all black to work tommorow, out of mourning for this country.
What they meant was Barack’s approval ratings in the 1970’s.
Yeah. A Kodak moment.
Nope, not even for a day. I keep getting these little flashbacks of missing “w” on WH keyboards. OH, golly gee, silly me, that was all good fun.
This is how the politico morons would describe that little ole incident.
Considering the makeup of the majority of the coronation attendees, there will be a lot of zebra-skin and ostrich feathers about. I wonder if PETA will be there?
Be a “naysayer” while it’s still “allowed”.
Obama is like a new teenage band fad. Except he will burn out faster.
It reminds me of David Dinkens taking over as mayor of New York.
Nope. Can't get myself into a phony, Hollywood-inspired, drippy, huggy, feel-good, kumbaya socialist mood - even for one day.
Politico's just mad because it's evident that some of us are on to the media and aren't falling for their "Let's all worship" stance.
I have a feeling the 58 million people who voted for the (R) ticket will be having a field day soon. He is NOT my president, and I will buy a bumper sticker with that on it and keep it in my office for all to see. I already mute my radio whenever I hear his voice.
I remember many threads on this forum when Republicans controlled to executive and the legislative that those of dissent should shut and get over it, the people have spoken.
Now that the shoe is on the other foot, the other side is saying and doing the same thing and our dissent engines are warmed up and ready for the showdown.
It is more of a coronation than an inauguration.
