Also in his last full day as President he commuted the sentences of two former US border guards facing more than 10 years in prison for shooting a Mexican drug smuggler.

Secretary of Defense Roberts Gates will will sit out Barack Obama's inauguration at an undisclosed location as the "designated successor" in the event of a catastrophe, the White House announced Monday.

Levin lounge for licking of wounds?

I think that works.

I knew President Bush would take care of this.

It’s my understanding that their sentences were commuted rather than pardoned because it was proven they they hid evidence. Had they not done that then President Bush could have pardoned them. Now they have to wait 5 years to ask for a pardon, which brings us to the next next administration.

I think I have that right.

Hi snugs! Thanks for the dose tonight. I’m sad. But more than that, I’m happy we’ve been able to celebrate a wonderful man. I know we’ll all find a way to keep in touch - maybe just “A Day on Sanity Island” thread.

Thanks for the photos. I am headed to Midland tomorrow to Welcome President Bush and Mrs. Bush back to Texas. I doubt anyone covers it but be assured thousands will be there to welcome them home. Keep an eye on FNC at 5:00-5:30 central time tomorrow. They might cover!

Anyone have an idea how/where I can find two particular photos..?

1.) September 14, 2001: President Bush 41 reaches over to rest his hand on President Bush 43’s arm after 43’s message at the National Cathedral.

2.) A picture of the First Lady and President next to a White House window. She’s in front of him and he has his hands on her shoulders.

Longshot, I know - but I haven’t had luck in locating the pictures on the world-wide-web.

Thank you in advance if’n ya know where I can find ‘em.

Blessings,
Tiggy

Hey there! I’ve missed you on the AI thread!

I think they are going to try and continue this thread sort of following the administration in their next stages. We are truly going to need a sanity island!
