The euphoria over the inauguaration of Barack Hussein Obama appears to have its limits as several unofficial inaugural balls have been cancelled due to lack of ticket sales, while at least one ball has slashed ticket prices.
The Washington Times and The Washington Post reported on the troubles some of the inaugural festivities are having bringing in celebrants. High ticket prices in a tough economy are being blamed for the troubles, however the $10,000 per ticket Creative Coalition ball sold out weeks ago.
Among the inaugural events cancelled were the the D.C. Inaugural Ball at the Old Post Office Pavillion, a Georgetown party hosted by Luke Russert, the son of the late NBC News icon Tim Russert, The Veterans Ball at the St. Regis Hotel and the American Music Ball at the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel.
The People's Ball at the Grand Hyatt cut its ticket prices by $100, from $350 to $250.
Other balls apparently had trouble footing the bill for their performers and have either cancelled acts or brought in substitutes from cancelled balls.
You win - the first!
All his supporters are on welfare and homeless, what does he expect???
A sign of a down economy. Democrats should be thrilled with this news!
You can now own a piece of history, for just $49.95 you can buy this crappy worthless coin that isn't worth the cheap metal it's stamped out of.
Have you seen this stupid commercials??? Montel Williams is a snake oil salesman on one of them.
Not that it's too much, just that they cost anything at all.
Things are supposed to be free in Obama's America.
Obama’s barely in office and already folks are getting ripped off. Pity....
:::::::::
No surprise — and the Dow is down almost 200 points at the moment on his speech....I won’t say “I told you so...”. It does show that the people that matter to the US economy, are not happy. No surprise at all -—
So the Obama administration balls aren’t as big as people had expected?
If America is so hurting, why isnt this money going to feed the poor and give medical aide to the sick?
Instead of posting videos on YouTube pledging(lying) to plant trees and clean up cat boxes, maybe these Obi-pawns should actually be making a difference with the cash they are all to willing to blow on a party.
Perhaps Obama just doesn’t have balls
Barack “No Balls” Obama?

And to think Jesse Jackson wanted to cut them out.
Jesse Jackson has expressed his wish to cancel balls.
I didn’t really see the whole coronation, but I can’t stop wondering about what cost the reported $170 Million? The ceremony wasn’t that fancy, Aretha Franklin (whom I used to greatly respect) should not only NOT be paid, she should pay a fine for what she did to the song.
Where WAS the $170M spent?
Just think the Arizona Cardinals are in the Super Bowl and that, has sold out and more people would buy tickets, if there were any left. Makes you wonder...
Hee hee
Can you say Inaugural Balls w/o laughing?
Euphoria? That's funny. I call it nausea.
But hey, whatever floats your boat.
These balls were sold out until Lowrey gave the Benediction.
Times are tough. Luxury items, like ball tickets, are the first thing to go.
On a related subject, has anyone seen a good aerial shot of the crowd so that we can make an accurate crowd estimate with Google Earth tools before the media announces that it was five million?
Dang it. You win.
‘Where WAS that $170 million spent?’
Must have been the poem!
Is anyone surprised?
First it was “4 million in DC”
than 3 million to visit for
then - Maybe 1.5 million... or less. Even the talking tubers are saying “an estimated” crowd of “over a million”.
These things tanked because of Million Man March Math...
Nobody came to the party.
Retroactive "spreading of the wealth?"
By the way, you forgot "illegals."
“You can now own a piece of history, for just $49.95 you can buy this crappy worthless coin that isn’t worth the cheap metal it’s stamped out of.
Have you seen this stupid commercials??? Montel Williams is a snake oil salesman on one of them.”
I saw that commercial, and I started laughing because there really are people who are going to be stupid enough to shell out $50 for four coins who’s total face value is only worth $2.00 because the set has a silver dollar, a half dollar and two quarters IIRC.
If it comes with a certificate of authenticity, I bet it says “YOU’RE A SUCKER” in bold red letters.
Never mind that.
Where are the 5 million visitors that the delusional moonbats were expecting in DC??
I was not really watching, but it was on. Was she the one with the big bow on her head?
Can we cancel the presidency due to lack of interest (and experience) (and ability) (and and and)...?
The inevitable emotional crash has begun...next will be rehab..then all hell breaks loose.
“Perhaps Obama just doesnt have balls”
michelle has them hidden in a jar.
Is anyone rally suprised that there is a lack of interest in Obama’s Balls?
Yep, we certify that these are "authentic" painted coins, that cost 80 times their face value. (But don't try putting them in a vending machine.)
Yes, Obama's birth certificate has been "authenticated." (We won't tell you what it says, though.)
You will be forever hated on FR as the first one to get to proclaim it. But for now, in a bipartisan spirit, I’ll congratulate you on being The First.
Bernie Madoff bankrupted most of the wealthy liberal elite, so all I’ve got to say is...way to go, Bernie!
Well Obamites are too poor to afford free. If its not paid for with somebody else’s money; it's worthless to these losers.
O mentioned education more than once today. Someone then should tell his supporters not to market “collectable” plates in his honor. I guess someone didn’t pay enough attention in spelling class. Must be because Republicans didn’t fund their school enough.
I changed my tag line a while ago. ;)
I couldn’t even read it w/o laughing. Did you read number nine?
Yikes. Please engage your sarcasm detector.
The coins come with a Certificate of Authencity, the one with the famous P.T. Barnum quote.
Is the Ball a black tie affair?
What is wrong with people today? It must be a dark pall over the US. For once, I'm damn glad not to be home. I've been getting a heavy dose of snippiness on FR today just for trying to be lighthearted.
Sheesh.
Well, y'all aren't going to stop me. I've even got a psycho co-worker who's been trying to drag me down into her weird mind games the past couple of weeks. If she can't succeed, neither can anyone on here.
My guess is the crowds were low and that's why, speaking for myself, I haven't read anything yet re: crowd numbers.
Guess the Elites up in DC didn’t check the guestlist. Most of those folks can barely make it back home.
ALL 0bama's crowds have been vastly overstated by the media.
It is possible these days to do a quick sanity check of crowd size using Google Earth which has measurement tools that enable you to get an accurate square footage of the size of the crowd if you can get aerial shot to compare it with.
For instance, his estimated crowd of 65,000 - 70,000 in Portland Oregon didn't even fill the park that could only hold about 32,000 max. So you can immediately debunk their figures.
Same thing in Berlin, The crowd was actually between 35,000 and 45,000 - not the 200,000 that they claimed.
One source I saw said “...an estimated one to two million....”. Well that is a big difference between one and two....
