Seven reasons for healthy skepticism
Politico via Yahoo! News ^ | Wed Jan 21, | Jim VandeHei, John F. Harris

Even in a city of cynics, the Inauguration of a new president — and the infusion of new ideas, new personalities and new energy that comes with it — summons feelings of reverence.

Barack Obama, especially, is the object of inaugural good feelings. He has assembled an impressive White House and Cabinet team. The country is clearly in his corner. With the economy gasping, and two wars dragging on sullenly, even many Republicans who ordinarily might enjoy seeing Obama fail now root for him to succeed. The stakes are simply too great.

Amid all these high hopes, it may seem needlessly sour to point out why expectations must be kept in check. But it is also realistic.

Here are seven reasons to be skeptical of Obama’s chances — and the Washington establishment he now leads:

[begin exerpt]

1. The genius fallacy 2. The herd instinct 3. We are broke. 4. Words, words, words 5. He rarely challenges the home team. 6. Everyone is winging it. 7. The watchdogs are dozing.

....summons feelings of reverence

Oh, yes, that's it, sums up my feeling exactly. (Do I really need the tag?)

an infusion of New Ideas?

The latest high-level Cabineteers from Mr. Hopey Change are yet another Clintoon double dip with the intern date-raper’s old Chief of Staff, Panetta, for intelligence, and Sanjay Gupta, a TV reporter who sometimes moonlights as a real doctor, a former writer of speeches and crafter of policy for Hillary Clinton, for Surgeon General.

Like many have done said before, ‘Bammy looks like the car-chasing dog that actually caught the car, but now doesn’t know what to do with it. Got elected on change, but is now reduced to digging the spare change out of Bubba Bill’s old coat pockets. Only new-face appointment I’ve seen “The One” involved with is the Senator-in-waiting Burris. Unwittingly assisted crook Blagojevich in that mess.

So far his Chief Economist, Summers, has downed the banks and his Treasury Secy is busy doing old tax returns. Not off the a good start with the best and the brightest.

I noticed that the stock market was down sharply on Inauguration Day yesterday. That is not a good sign for President Obama’s first day in office. Talk about skepticism - Wall Street seems to be able to pierce all of the media b.s. and portend harsh economic realities still to come.

They’ve been working on lowering expectations down from the “all things to all men” promises of the campaign. The only thing I’m firm in believing Barry will do, is remain loyal to the black liberation theology he’s espoused for over 20 years. Everything else will be a matter of what most benefits that. One of his first acts, I’ve noticed, is an effort to channel yet more money to New Orleans. of all the things needing to be done right now, why would that be a priority? I firmly believe that his socialist leanings are only there inasmuch as they serve his racist agenda. That’s the only agenda I believe he really has-that’s why it’s so hard for him to just spit it out about what his overall plan is. At least, he can’t do it yet. Once he has enough taxpayer money in the pipeline, he can comeout with the truth, it’ll be too late, the ‘rats and the RINOs will have already served his purpose. Every president has declared what his top overarching agenda is (even if they were spinning and lying)-Barry hasn’t done that-I believe, for the reasons I’ve stated.

Barack Hussein Obama has claimed he has a “healthy skepticism of organized religion” that he got from his mother. Now we are considered heratics and “haters” if we do not worship the Obamessiah.

The stockmarket numbers are a reflection of the sentiments of people who actually have THEIR OWN WEALTH at risk.

I’d really like Obama to impress me, but let’s face it - he is ill-educated, he was pushed up the ranks by folks that I would not allow to clean my septic tank, and - he’s just not smart. (OK libs, if you think he is, let’s see some proof...such as writings etc, that came from HIM...not a ghost writer).

He’s a loon, pure and simple, and we’re soon gonna see proof.

God, I pray I’m wrong.

That is a common trait of both humanists and communist admirers.....

And here I see the antiChristian Left pointing out how this is a Christian nation with this service today.

He had pagan witches from Code Pink perform a “cleansing ritual” on the White House yesterday.

His supporters (and antiChristians) selectively see and hear what they want.

Anybody ever hear when/where Barack was actually baptized?

I'm not praying yet. I live way out in the woods, where cellphones never work, and I've got plenty of ammo, and my retired Dad and contractor brother-in-law both live nearby with plenty of their own ammo... But seriously, the "interesting times" of the fabled Chinese curse probably will turn out to be quite interesting.

The expectations are being lowered almost hourly.
