Makes no difference to me. What was the ethnic heritage of the first man to walk on the moon? What was the ethnic heritage of the second man to do so?
We look at the moment, that a man walked on the moon. There were 12 in total who did it. At the time NO ONE had accomplished it before. It wasn’t spectacular because of the background of any one many. Each time we sent men to the moon and brought them back, it was special.
Our government holds an election every 4 years. Sometimes presidents are unable to complete their terms of office (due to illness, assassin, or impeachment or resignation) and someone else steps into the role. EACH of those transitions is historic. I take significant issue when I hear the lie that only this inauguration is historic. I do not deny that it was historic. I ask where where these people who call themselves Americans all of those other times this has happened?
The New Patriotism of the 1960s New Left is revisionist history at its finest.
Good luck!
If a radio station wants to do that, that's fine with me. A school is a different matter.
Conservatives complain (rightly) that leftist school teachers attempt to indoctrinate the kids. However, we should also complain when conservative teachers attempt the same thing.
It was a presidential inaguration speech. A historical event that only comes along once every four years. It doesn't matter who is taking office, the students should have a chance to hear it unedited (and without commentary.)
If AFTER THE FACT, the teacher wants to go back through the speech and debate various points (as long as they are actually allowing an open debate and not trying to indoctroniate the students into one veiw point or another) that's fine with me.
I’ve seen plenty of televised broadcasts where the anchors are giving their own talking points (or rebuttal commentary) over those introducing the main speakers.
It can be everything from play by play about the weather to the wardrobe to the anger of those in the crowd (e.g. those booing Bush at this inauguration). It can also be derisive comments of “well that’s not really so”.
I never saw my high school or college take time out of the school day to present us with the televised inauguaration.
“Im a college student and my professor canceled class so that we could all prepare for the inauguration...”
Get yourself a lawyer and sue the SOB. You paid good money to attend that class and the idiot professor didn’t teach class. Breach of contract. Make some money for yourself and teach the leftists a lesson in courtroom economics.
