WASHINGTON (AP) Sen. John McCain is imploring his Republican colleagues to drop partisan demands and let the popular president get to work.
The Arizona Republican made his first comments on the Senate floor since his rival, President Barack Obama, was sworn into office.
He said the nation has come together in a way that it has not for some time. McCain was speaking in defense of Hillary Rodham Clinton's appointment as the next secretary of State. Senate leaders had planned to confirm her by unanimous consent on Tuesday, but Texas Republican Sen. John Cornyn objected because of concerns raised about foreign contributions to her husband's charity.
A roll call vote was planned for late Wednesday.

Must be the meds.
Yeah, can’t see the conflicts because of the bedsheets.
This fellow sure was a total loser.
I will suspend my campaign and return to Washington to be
Obama’s poodle!
Butt boy for the Clintons.
I am starting to think that the only reason that John McCain ran for President was so he could lose for Obama! Can someone tell the old fool to shut the hell up? We don’t care what he thinks!
Juan wants to help amnesty pass. Hey Juan, what happened to making sure the borders were certified as secure by all border state governors first?
That little lie didn’t take long for Juan to break.
F*** You, McLame!
From FoxNews.com:
“We need to immediately, or as soon as possible ... move forward with the nomination,” McCain said. He said two wars and a “fragile cease-fire” between Israel and Hamas make the installment of a new secretary of state imperative.
Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., said President Obama needs a secretary of state “right now, this minute” to be an “advocate on the world stage.”
“There’s no better advocate than Hillary Clinton,” Graham said. “I enthusiastically support her.”
I’m going to burn the grass in my yard where his sign once stood. I feel I need to go through some sort of purification ritual.
John go away and take all your Gods children with you.
John go away and take all your Gods children with you.
it is why we shouldn’t feel disappointed that McCain lost. He would have just done the same foolish things that Obama is going to do.
Hopefully the GOP in AZ will put up a legitimate conservative Republican in the primary to oust this POS Little JERK John McLame.
Imagine having to grin and swallow all the BS laws he supports all because he's a fellow GOP’er.
GLAD!!! I tell ya. GLAD !!!
Is McCain up for re-election in 2010?
Well there goes Obama’s “transparency”.
McTrain wreck trashed is own party and president at the convention and now he preaches about giving this socialist cult leader a free hand. What a loser.
rotflol!
Arizona needs to start a recall petition.
Mr. McCain must be suffering from too tight shoes or something.
Good Lord, how dumb is this guy?
Ya know that may not be such a good idea. Bad, baaaaad conservative carma associated with that dolt.
That would be ‘not be such a BAD idea’ ... I’m feeling the same need.
Any article about McPain should have to posted with a POS ALERT, from now on.
He’s ‘Obama’s Boy’?
Ya know...we have some very talent posters in this forum.
How hard is it to put John McCain’s head on the ‘Obama Girl’s’ body and make it dance?
Just a thought....one thats got me laughing as I type this.
What gets me is he was our other choice too.
Funny :)
McCain insists on repeatedly proving he’s a loser.
Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., said President Obama needs a secretary of state right now, this minute to be an advocate on the world stage.
Theres no better advocate than Hillary Clinton, Graham said. I enthusiastically support her.
Translation: “She’s got my FBI file, pictures and videotapes”.
“Good Lord, how dumb is this guy?”
The depth of his stupidity is only exceeded by his arrogance.
Let me make a bold prediction: Dirty Harry and Fancy Nancy are going to push for unadulterated Marxism. Oba Mao and McCain will propose that we water it down just a little. It will be hailed as bipartisanship on the part of Obacain.
got knee pads?????
Yes McCain is up for reelection in 2010. With Napolitano at Homeland Security, I assume he will win again.
I'm friggin RELIEVED this dolt lost. Imagine having to grin and swallow all the BS laws he supports all because he's a fellow GOPer. GLAD!!! I tell ya. GLAD !!!
;-)
Mickey Kaus who's in Washington for the festivities wrote this morning in Slate that all the "[c]onservatives I've met in D.C. so far have been near-ebullient, not downcast or bitter. Why? a) They know how unhappy they'd be now if McCain had won; b) Obama has not fulfilled their worst fears, or even second-to-worst fears; c) now they can be an honest, straight-up opposition. ....".
And his arrogance is only exceeded by the idiocy of republican primary voters to nominate this lemon.
If he wasnt already on Soros’ payroll before the election, he got on it when he met the fuhrer in chicago after the election.
“Let me make a bold prediction: Dirty Harry and Fancy Nancy are going to push for unadulterated Marxism. Oba Mao and McCain will propose that we water it down just a little. It will be hailed as bipartisanship on the part of Obacain.”
TaDa!
But they won’t call it marxim or socialism, they’ll call it ‘unity’ and ‘change’.
Get lost, senator.
The only reason you didn’t lose all 57 states was because you had Sarah as your veep.
John McCain and Lyndsey Graham ,Tokyo Rose and Jane Fonda.
Birds of a feather.
What a moron.
I suggest everyone on this board do the same thing, this bending over for Obama while he pulls an FDR after Hoover on us has to stop.
McCain is a
brown noser.
Looks like the Obama family got their new puppy.
Why o why won’t that pitiful petty excuse of a Republican just do all of us a favor and go away?!
I have yet to hear of one coming forward... and Flake certainly blew any chance he would have with his “Three DUI’s and Deport” bill he is introducing.
How did Slate let that one get by the editor? (grins)
Not “was”, “IS”
YES!!!!!!!!! and he is running — people need to understand he controls the AZ Chamber members and they control the AZ GOP... this is why he always runs unopposed.
McCain is trying to position himself as the defacto leader of the opposition.
How do we send a “not in my name” or “McCain, sit down and shut up” meassage?
Arizona may be stuck with him but he does NOT represent the rest of us.
