From The Times January 22, 2009 President Obama's first call 'was to President Abbas'

President Obama placed the Middle East at the forefront of his first hours in office yesterday as he sought to make good on his promise of “ushering in a new era of peace”. In a flurry of telephone calls from the Oval Office, he reached out to leaders in the region and vowed to engage immediately in pursuit of a permanent Arab-Israeli settlement.

The spokesman for President Abbas revealed that Mr Obama had told the Palestinian leader that their conversation was his first with a foreign statesman since taking office.

their conversation was his first with a foreign statesman

You can be a statesman without a state?

Poor Barry, I just know he’s going to spend untold man-hours and countless millions of our dollars trying and trying to “solve” the palestinian problem as Abbas, Assad and Co. gleefully take him to the cleaners.

He’ll end up humiliated and disillusioned like so many before him, wondering why his unique glamor and charisma failed to fell all before him.

Somebody remind me just how it was that these Palestinians are so important in the first place?

Was it because they hijacked a bunch of planes and blew up westerners back in the early seventies?

The PLO was created by the KGB according to a Russian defector, I saw on TV in the 80’s.

I totally agree. Sooner or later Barry is going to have to come back down to earth and abandon the ridiculous image the media has created for him.

Yes, Obambi will have to accept reality sooner or later. And so will Israel. It will be called upon to accept that Obama has seriously damaged its ability to defend itself against literally tens of thousands of individual Hitlers.

The West Bank and Gaza are filled with people who consider Israelis dogs or monkeys, have trained since birth to destroy them, and are still training their children today, to think of martyrdom as the most holy thing they can do.

Obama wakes up... as Israel slides beneath the waves for the third time. Mission accomplished, by design or extreme negligence.

That is unacceptable to me!

Obama, I have one word for you. Ovens. Look into it. Educate yourself.

Peace could break out at any moment in the Middle-East, that’s any moment the terrorists decide to, which they never will. Until then, you can piss up wind all you want, but you’ll only have yellow fluid on your face for your effort.

Beyond making fun of Obama, calling Abas first was and will be viewed as a mistake. This presidency is barely 24 hours old and we have a screwed up oath, a lame speech, out of control rappers, pissed off 9/11 families and a call to the PLO that writers all over the planet are scribbling about. Man, it’s gotta be tough suddenly being accountable.

"Actually his firat executive act and phone call was to Aretha Franklin to pardon her inauguration hat."

Her hat was excusable, her 'singing' wasn't. Mangled "words" (were those even words?) nobody on earth could understand. The song was barely recognizable.

Hitler, Mao, Pol Pot, Stalin, Lenin and Brezhnev weren’t available.

Abbas makes a good stand-in.

Hey O. Why not Castro, Chavez, Morales, and Ortega, just to keep Latin America in the loop?

Obama had to thank Abbas for all that illegal campaign money, and the hard work all his terrorist pals did calling Americans at home and telling them to vote obama- or else!

In photos today I saw the rug and chairs that First Lady Larua Bush designed and selected for the Oval Office..and guess who is keeping it the same? President Bush took his paintings but the rest remains..0bama liked the sunburst design of the carpet and the neutral colors...imagine that..it beats having a rug that has the seal in the center with red, black and green stripes. But somehow I hate him having President Bush's carpet and chairs...

Barry-Hussein-Sotero-Obama-what’s his name is no statesman.

He is an amateur and knows it.

I never will forget him and McCain walking up to the Ground Zero (0) Memorial. McCain knelt and gently placed his rose on the memorial.

Obama stood and tossed his rose.

Statesmen embody the best in a nation’s manners. Obama sits behind the Oval Office desk without his suit jacket on for his first photo op.

OK Barry. I’m not impressed.

Shape up fast, Mr. President, and act like one.

Brainchild of the KGB

As Ion Mihai Pacepa, onetime director of the Romanian espionage service (DIE), later explained, the PLO was conceived at a time when the KGB was creating “liberation front” organizations throughout the Third world. Others included the National Liberation Army of Bolivia, created in 1964 with help from Ernesto “Che” Guevara, and the National Liberation Army of Colombia, created in 1965 with help from Fidel Castro. But the PLO was the KGB’s most enduring achievement.

In 1964, the first PLO Council, consisting of 422 Palestinian representatives handpicked by the KGB, approved the Soviet blueprint for a Palestinian National Charter—a document drafted in Moscow—and made Ahmad Shukairy, the KGB’s agent of influence, the first PLO chairman. The Romanian intelligence service was given responsibility for providing the PLO with logistical support. Except for the arms, which were supplied by the KGB and the East German Stasi, everything, according to Ion Pacepa, “came from Bucharest. Even the PLO uniforms and the PLO stationery were manufactured in Romania free of charge, as a ‘comradely help.’ During those years, two Romanian cargo planes filled with goodies for the PLO landed in Beirut every week.”

The PLO came on the scene at a critical moment in Middle East history. At the Khartoum conference held shortly after the Six-Day war, the defeated and humiliated Arab states confronted the “new reality” of an Israel that seemed unbeatable in conventional warfare. The participants of the conference decided, among other things, to continue the war against Israel as what today would be called a “low intensity conflict.” The PLO’s Fatah forces were perfect to carry out this mission.

The Soviets not only armed and trained Palestinian terrorists but also used them to arm and train other professional terrorists by the thousands. The International Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party (CPSU), the Soviet Security Police (KGB), and Soviet Military Intelligence (GRU) all played major roles in this effort. From the late 1960s onwards, moreover, the PLO maintained contact with other terror groups—some of them neo-Nazi and extreme right-wing groups—offering them support and supplies, training and funding.

The Soviets also built Moscow’s Patrice Lumumba People’s Friendship University to serve as a base of indoctrination and training of potential “freedom fighters” from the Third world. More specialized training in terrorism was provided at locations in Baku, Odessa, Simferopol, and Tashkent. Mahmoud Abbas, later to succeed Yassir Arafat as head of the PLO, was a graduate of Patrice Lumumba U, where he received his Ph.D. in 1982 after completing a thesis partly based on Holocaust denial.

Getting busy destroying the fabric of our nation.

1. Rename America a Christian and Muslim nation
2. Assist Gitmo Jihadists
3. Planning to overturn DOMA
4. Deface White House website
5. Sell out Israel

It's only been 24 hours. What am I forgetting?

They give lots of untraceable jewelry to Hillary Clinton.

Apparently that's VERY important. Probably has a lot to do with all the drugs passing through Lebanon, too.

I saw that too and I was very disappointed that it was left there. I thought it was a very beautiful rug and I wanted Bush to take it as a special piece of the WH that could be his for the rest of his life.

With the millions and millions spent on the extravaganza, one would think 0bama would have set aside funds for his own rug..have it in like colors if that is what switches him on but this rug belongs in the GWB Library. Maybe we should all protest...President Bush and First Lady Laura Bush have set a tone for civility and courtesy that the DemocRATS will never ever be able to match.
And yet they were treated on the 20th with unbelievable disrespect and since the departure it has not let up. This man and his lovely wife have huge shoulders to bear this kind of unrelenting insults day in and day out.
