I doubt it would surprise anyone here that the media would go to their best lengths to over-estimate the number of people at Obama's inauguration. But just how far? Try a million people.
ASU journalism professor Stephen Doig took it to the satellite image to get an accurate count of the crowd. His tally, after even accounting for Baltimore Sun: "Inaugural crowd is estimated at close to 2 million"
Boston Globe: " The National Park Service says it will rely on a media report that says 1.8 million people attended President Obama's inauguration."
MSNBC: "Oh, and some guy named Barack Obama. Along with millions of regular folk, celebrities swarmed to DC to celebrate the Inauguration." (from the same page: "Could Inauguration Crowd Reach 4 Million?")
LA Times: "Crowds surged in previously unseen numbers today for the presidential inauguration of Barack Obama, making it seem increasingly likely that the gathering would reach the record-setting mark of 2 million."
Maybe Calypso Louie can clear things up for us.
The LA Times had a story after the “festivities” (whoo-hoo ghet-TO party!) that the number turned out to be less than for Lyndon B Johnson, what ever that number was.
And TV viewership was higher for Reagan`s 1985 inaugural than it was for Obama`s. The media won`t tell people that, though.
“Nearly 37.8 million Americans watching at home viewed President Barack Obamas oath of office and inaugural speech between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. ET on January 20, 2009. This is the most viewed inauguration since the record of 41.8 million viewers who watched Ronald Reagans 1981 inauguration.”

not surprising really. Media corruption in full display

You seemed to have snipped out Dr. Doig’s estimate itself, cutting mid-sentence. It was 800,000.
“His tally, after even accounting for those still in route to the event: 800,000”
Oops!
The media’s Obamadulation is really getting old. It’s been sickening all along, but now it’s getting ridiculous.

Obama's crowd above! Promise Keepers below. Estimated well short of 1,000,000.
Calypso Louie stated there were a “kajillion bruthas and sistahs, a bunch of dumb white devils, and a wholotta other folks”. Scientists are now working on determining how many a “kajillion” is in laymen’s terms.
I predicted 1.2 million.
Waiting to hear the numbers from the Metro as to how many people rode that on Inaugural Day.
I stand by my prediction.
“kajillion” = Kill Whitey. He was slurring his words.
Thanks for pulling the critical data. Annoying when that gets left out.
1 million 2 million 4 million? Who gives a rats ass and whay does it matter for any reason.
The US media LIES? Really. You just figured that out? That is NEWS to you?
Come on. Any American citizen with an once of common sense and grounded in reality KNOWS that concerning President Obama there WILL BE NO NEGATIVE NEWS AND EVERYTHING WILL BE SPUN INTO AS POSITIVE A SCENARIO AS CAN BE DONE.
If the guy trips and falls flat on his face it will be defined as a new dance move.
I would wager The Promise Keepers left the area a lot tidier than the Obamanators.
They just probably just littered like two million. Probably 1/4 of that number attended.
I see we think alike. :~)
