WASHINGTON Two U.S. senators are proposing a Sept. 11-style commission with subpoena powers and a $3 million budget to investigate what caused the banking and financial crisis.
.. the bipartisan panel would conduct a comprehensive "forensic audit" ..
Isakson, a Georgia Republican, and Conrad, a North Dakota Democrat, .. said the investigation is needed to hold people accountable.

Will they call the head Dems that are at the core of this mess to begin with?
We may need to build a new wing at Leavenworth to house all the dirt that could fall out of this Congre$$ional rug shaking exercise... If it was legit. I’d gladly donate time and money for it.
Fannie and Freddie will be excluded of course. Plus they have the shredders running full time at all the Rat committees. By the time they get done all will be left is video of G. Bush’s speaches on housing.
I’m sure Chris Dodd is shaking in his boots.
They need to determine just how much the Islamic banking system has infiltrated our banking system. They are using economic terrorism and it seems to be working, unless we get mad enough to demand our government protect us at this level as well.
Is this a joke?
The foxes and wolves have promised the chickens a forensic audit to see who raided the henhouse
Chris Dodd, Barney Fwank, Bill Clinton, Franklin Raines, and everyone who FORCED Businessmen to allow loans to those who couldn’t pay for them. Who was the HUD Director during the Clinton years AND the Bush years? This was incestuous and cost the productive people trillions in investments. All because of government meddling.
Barney Frank and Chris Dodd will be exempt of course, because just like tax cheat Tim Geithner, they are have to solve this crisis they created, so are too valuable to toss in jail.
No joke. off the wire not too long ago..
It could make for amusing questioning.
Yep, that’s what we need, a (DhimmiRat controlled) Congressional investigation into a failed social engineering experiment foisted on the banking industry by the DhimmiRats and assorted other LibTards and Socialists, along with some backsliding Repubbies.
Tell you what...save the $3 million, the flurry of papers, and the self righteous posturing of the Commies In Congress.
We know how it happened, and we know who did it.
Sorry to break it to you, but the next Senator from NY is the one you are speaking about. He will have a front row seat to these hearings and will be asking, rather than answering questions. Andrew Mark Cuomo (born December 6, 1957, in Queens, New York) is the New York State Attorney General. He was elected on November 7, 2006. Previously Cuomo was the Secretary of Housing and Urban Development under President Bill Clinton between 1997 and 2001.
The Clinton HUD Secretary, the one that forced the banks to make all those risky loans? Andrew Cuomo, soon to be Junior Senator from New York.

Gee, Would this be about the time the Glass-Steigel Act was booted out?
WE...ARE...SO.... SCREWED. I told the woman we need to retire, get out of the pushing mode and ride in the cart. I can’t do anything right, just watch these people screw up and benefit.
Oh, so they need to spend another 3 million to investigate themselves? We already know what caused it, it's called the "community reinvestment initiative" which was implemented during the carter admin, beefed up during the clinton admin, which with the help of organizations it created like ACORN forced banks to give loans to unqualified monorities and funnel those bad loans through fannie mae and freddie mac in bundles into the bond markets.
Now pay me 3 million please.
No problem, Do you accept Zimbabwean Bank Notes? ;-)
And more money spent on nothing being done except to have the dimwits pusses plastered on tv looking like they are doing something.
Unless, of course, it’s a Republican.
It won’t be legit. Are you kidding, a Democrat Congres investigating ANYTHING will conclude (drum roll) you guessed it. Bush’s Fault
