I missed Clintonite moldy oldie-turned-Obama economic adviser Robert Reich’s testimony a few weeks ago on how the government should spend federal stimulus money. The Berkeley professor engaged in academic fantasy land talk about getting all the cash out to workers as quickly as possible — a pipe dream debunked by the CBO report I mentioned in my column yesterday.
Even more noteworthy, however, were the comments Reich made about which workers deserve the stimulus bucks most. Reich’s proposal exposes the lie that the Obama administration is actually interested in revitalizing basic infrastructure for the good of the economy. No, what Team Obama really wants is to ensure that the least skilled, least qualified workers get jobs based on their chromosomes and pigment.
Reich wrote on his blog:
The stimulus plan will create jobs repairing and upgrading the nation’s roads, bridges, ports, levees, water and sewage system, public-transit systems, electricity grid, and schools. And it will kick-start alternative, non-fossil based sources of energy (wind, solar, geothermal, and so on); new health-care information systems; and universal broadband Internet access.
It’s a two-fer: lots of new jobs, and investments in the nation’s future productivity.
But if there aren’t enough skilled professionals to do the jobs involving new technologies, the stimulus will just increase the wages of the professionals who already have the right skills rather than generate many new jobs in these fields. Yeah, my friend was praising Obama for that today. I said, that’s nice, they won’t get a raise for a job they got hired onto 3 days ago. I would hope they wouldn’t be looking for a raise anytime soon anyway. You don’t really think this is a permanent thing, do you? So why would it matter? “We are freezing the salaries until the next cost of living is due. Then we’ll freeze it again. Time to reign in government...”
People just don’t follow through with thoughts anymore. They are like trained little mice to go through the maze for their cheese and that’s it. Stop lesson. Got the cheese, finished for the day.
I’m trying to get out of my funk of realizing this administration is what I feared and worse because people aren’t seeing it.

Re Mojo’s comments on unskilled workers building things - we will have no safe highways, bridges that collapse, sewage systems that don’t work and back up right into your house, levees that break, and buildings that will fall down.
And those are just the good things that will happen if we follow Reich’s advise. Remember, he was a Secretary of Labor or the Treasury under Clinton. Does that explain things?

The more I think about this, the more infuriated I get.
The ONE thing alot of people in my area were saying was “Well, I hate he got in, but at least with this road building project, we’ll get some work”. That was the lone concilation to alot of men around here.

As a purchasing manager, I got a call from a potential vendor.
She offered proudly that she represented a, “women owned business”. I inquired, exactly what does that offer to my business? So tired of un-equality being portrayed as the new “equal”. We have entered the realm of true idiocy.
