President Obama yesterday eliminated the most controversial tools employed by his predecessor against terrorism suspects. With the stroke of his pen, he effectively declared an end to the "war on terror," as President George W. Bush had defined it, signaling to the world that the reach of the U.S. government in battling its enemies will not be limitless.
While Obama says he has no plans to diminish counterterrorism operations abroad, the notion that a president can circumvent long-standing U.S. laws simply by declaring war was halted by executive order in the Oval Office.
Key components of the secret structure developed under Bush are being swept away: The military's Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, facility, where the rights of habeas corpus and due process had been denied detainees, will close, and the CIA is now prohibited from maintaining its own overseas prisons. And in a broad swipe at the Bush administration's lawyers, Obama nullified every legal order and opinion on interrogations issued by any lawyer in the executive branch after Sept. 11, 2001.

I definitely agree with you there. But it was embarassing reading comments from people who wouldn’t vote for Romney due to his religion. (I’m not saying he’d have been my pick, but seeing how the economy killed McCain, Romney would have been the perfect person to get up at those debates and destroy Obama.)
I will never be able to support Obama after this. He is what a real failure looks like. The sad thing is this bozo really believes all that leftist BS about war. My fifteen year old had plans to enlist after HS but now says he won’t serve under Obama.
You nailed it. Why should the Republican party allow DEMOCRATS (New Hampshire, for example) to choose their candidate? That is EXACTLY what happened with McCain.

Why is this idiot making himself such an easy political target? People really don't like terrorists. There is no groundswell against the War on Terror. While I would have appreciated more clarity in our war terminology, such as "war against radical Islam," now I appreciate President Bush's choice of words—just as ZerObama apparently does not. Everybody's against "terror."
Obomber's political support on all fronts is about to bleed away, from this day forward, with a thousand goofs like this. For all his PR, he is tone-deaf. (And a lousy defense strategist, it goes without saying.)

Your quite welcome. When there was a candidate worth getting behind, i.e., when Sarah Palin joined the race, we “conservatives” got behind her, dispite the RINO at the front of the ticket. The other candidates all had one thing or another to prevent complete unity of support, but Sarah is special!
My 14-year-old has always had a dream of serving in the military, too, but he won’t serve under Hussein, either.
And about Obama killing the War on Terror - I don’t plan to go to any national landmarks, big cities, or areas where large groups of people congregate (football, basketball, hockey games, etc.) in the next 4 years because we WILL be hit. Innocent Americans ARE going to die because of Obama’s hatred of the war. I give it 18 months at the most.

A lot went wrong this elections cycle and my experience with it, indicates it was all an internal mess.
Right now I really do not care if we are attacked. Sure it will suck, but how bad can you feel for a country who knowingly invites attacks?
Out in the real world laws do not mater, to those who choose to ignore them, and in a fight the most ruthless and brutal fighter will win. We no longer have the desire to win, only to play nice.

I’d say five years on the over under. They can now begin to rebuild their capabilities then get into specific planning. It all will take time, the sad part being he might be re-elected before the inevitable big one happens.
