"Republicans" celebrate Obama repeal of Mexico City policy and the death of more babies

Republican Majority for Choice Applauds Global Gag Repeal

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Contact: Bethany Vensel 202-887-4786 January 23, 2009

The Republican Majority for Choice applauds the repeal of the global gag rule and restoring America as a leader in international family planning.

"The global gag rule has been a massive obstacle in efforts to provide safe and effective medical care to the most underserved populations around the world. Millions of Republicans across the country supported overturning this measure and stand with us in support of desperately needed international family planning funds," said Kellie Ferguson, RMC Executive Director.

RMC has opposed the global gag rule since it was reinstated eight years ago. The global gag has restricted the doctor-patient relationship by having doctors choose between honest medical communications with their patients and all too important funding. It also blocked family planning efforts and cost millions of families' access to contraception.

"Supporters of the global gag have misled the public into thinking that overturning the measure would mean that U.S. funds would be used for abortions. That is simply not the case. U.S. funds cannot and will not be used for abortion, but will provide for vital pre-natal care, lifesaving maternal health services and comprehensive family planning and contraception," continued Ferguson . "We hope to see more and more Republicans embracing this type of common sense and effective polices to the incidence of unintended pregnancy and the need for abortion both at home and abroad."

The myth that we currently have a "two-party" system continues to melt away in the light of reality.

and on the right, conservatives.

lifesaving maternal health services and comprehensive family planning and contraception

If you do not call it abortion but you still do them, money is being used for them.

The overwhelming number of Republicans in congress are not
for 0bozo’s MX City policy.

When you include major pro life Republicans with pro choice
folks, you have a problem with reality.

Loons voting third party or sitting at home gave us Oboma
and now you have buyers remorse

I have no such thing. Those who refuse to vote for liberals, no matter what letter they have by their name, have no reason to be remorseful.

If you do support said liberals, and have no remorse, I guess maybe your conscience is seared beyond decent use.

These people are not Republicans but Democrats masquerading as Republicans. I guess one can be pro-abortion and be in the party but I thought the Republican Party was united under less spending, lower taxes ect. So what gets me is not only are they supporting abortion, but celebrating the funding of it overseas with tax dollars from our government.

Is it any wonder why the same Republicans who lecture the party on abortion can never be counted on for any other issue at hand whether it be economic, social ect.

I'm a Republican and I don't want any of my tax money sent abroad for any goody-goody social services...but if it is going to go for "family services" I'd just as soon it goes for contraception and abortion...rather than food and medical services that lead to populations that double each generation...significant numbers of which arrive here, get costly social services, and turn what used to be America into patches of turd-world hell-holes...

(I'm not a "Compassionate Conservative")

Institutionally, it isn’t possible. They have the money, they have the power, and they ain’t giving any of it back to conservatives. The most you can expect from them is deceptive lip service, when they feel like even giving you that. It took me almost twenty years to figure that out. I hope you don’t waste as much of your life as I did on trying to fix what is unfixable.

See, that's the problem. You can't get her out of your party, or even exercise one ounce of party discipline over her.

The problem is structural, and therefore unfixable without starting over at the footings.

I’ve been watching them all for a very long time. But you know what? The problem isn’t really these people. It’s the people who call themselves pro-life but are completely compromised. They have no intention of ending abortion. It’s just a campaign “issue” intended to swing votes and/or raise money.

According the the RMC, they seem to think they are the majority.

If it is the majority, the party left me. I have stood my ground with this party for a long time. If this party support baby killin’, I am outta here.

Also, I am getting tired of supporting a party that does not support my beliefs (see abortion, border security, and socialized banks).

Then I'd like to slap the living sh** out of her.

But that's just me.

Yes you can. It's an open association. You have no means to do anything about it. That's why I say that the party is structurally flawed. It had to fail. It was inevitable.

Hi dhue!

If this party support baby killin’, I am outta here.

If you read this on the site, Republican Majority for Choice Marks 36th Anniversary of Roe With Call to Continue Fight for Personal Freedoms, you must be packed by now. They actually call baby killing "personal freedoms" for crying out loud.

Between the RMC and the RMSP the baby killers within the GOP seem to form the majority. I guess this would explain why Duncan Hunter's Life at Conception Act was never brought up for a vote, even though the so-called republicans had a very comfortable majority and the bill had over 125 co-sponsors.

True! Have you checked out the new party that published this press release? Hopefully, AIP will have a conservative candidate to run against Specter and Matthews in PA.

To: Perchant

Perchant, your question is a great one. Our new party has put a lot of thought into how to best ensure that the principles we hold dear are an inherent part of America’s Indepent Party. Take a look at our personal affiliation agreement. That is our sentinel at the door.

Other parties choose their candidates largely via primaries. In some states, any registered voter can have a say in who your party’s nominees will be. In other states, anybody who registers their affiliation with your party gets to vote in your primary. The party has no say in the matter of who votes in their primary.

America’s Independent Party has adopted a caucus system. A precinct caucus system. The only folks who get to vote in the caucuses are those who have affiliated by agreeing to the affiliation agreement. If you don’t agree with the basic principles — like we are all endowed by our Creator with unalienable rights including the right to life — then you probably wouldn’t want to sign the affiliation agreement.

In the event that someone signs the affiliation agreement despite disagreeing with these basic principles, the party still has a say in whether you are a bona fide affiliate. My understanding is that each state party organization will have its own by-laws specifying how this will be implemented. The key thing is that the affiliation agreement works both ways — the voter agrees to affiliate with the party, and the party agrees to affiliate with the voter. Either voter or party can disaffiliate with the other. We encourage folks to change their voter registration to reflect their affiliation, but we don’t rely on the state voter registration system as a way to control who has a say in selecting our nominees. You can affiliate with our new party regardless of your state registration.

If we grow as strong as we expect, the precinct caucuses will be a key to enforcing party discipline on maintaining the integrity of the affiliation agreement.

We discuss these kinds of things on our twice-weekly Maryland state conference calls. The Saturday morning call starts at 9:05 am eastern time. All of good will are welcome to dial-in, please feel welcome to join in and ask questions. 712-421-7885 passcode 2008#
