Norm Coleman sent his U.S. Senate opponent a "Dear Al" letter on Saturday, asking him to "join forces" and agree that 12,000 ballots that may have been wrongly excluded from the November election results be examined.
"If you feel that tactically you cannot join this effort," the Republican told DFLer Al Franken, "we would at least ask that your campaign does nothing to block this suit from moving forward or makes any public statements which could be construed as standing in the way of this suit moving forward."
The Franken campaign could not be reached for comment.

Norm's letter to Al reads in part,
"As you are likely aware, yesterday we assisted some 12,000 Minnesota voters whose ballots may have been wrongly excluded from the November election, file a class action suit to help ensure that every valid vote is included in the final count. As you no doubt know now, under Minnesota law, the contest phase is the part of the process where we should all be certain that all the valid votes are counted. The class action suit rests on the basic principle of equal protection that your campaign invoked on behalf of 64 Minnesota voters who recently filed suit to have their votes counted.
"The purpose of this letter is to ask that we join forces to be sure that all eligible votes are finally included. We believe that those 12,000 voters constitute the entirety of voters whose absentee ballots may have been wrongly excluded. If you know of others, we would be pleased to include them. In court yesterday, we agreed that your 64 should be inspected and their ballots counted if they have been wrongly excluded and their votes not yet counted.
"It is important that these 12,000 (and any others of which you may know) be included in the count if their votes have been wrongly rejected. The reality is that these 12,000 are not cherry-picked by us. They no doubt include votes for us, votes for you, and votes for neither....
"...As both of our campaigns have noted throughout this recount process, every valid vote must be counted. To allow any of these votes to be discounted for erroneous reasons would disenfranchise every voter in this election. Your attorney, Mark Elias, said it very well December 12 on Minnesota Public Radio. He noted that not including wrongly rejected absentee ballots would amount to tossing out votes and disenfranchising Minnesotans.'It is acceptable that errors are made,' MPR quotes Mr. Elias.'It is not acceptable that when an error is made the burden of that error falls only on the voter.'
Ball's in your court, Al. Should 64 cherry-picked Franken voters get enfranchised, or should all 12,000 voters get accorded that equal-protection right?
anyone who reaches out to a liberal democrat should take a shower for at least three days afterward, with disinfectant.
IMHO
Full-inclusion democracy's such a messy thing, isn't it, Al?
AND, make sure your shot record is up to date....
Read Coleman's letter (my previous post). Norm's not "reaching out" at all; he's calling Al's bluff. Al supports the lawsuit of 64 Franken voters who claimed they've been disenfranchised. Norm's upping the ante and asking him, "Justice for all 12,000, Al?"
thanks.
A “Dear Al” letter? Pathetic. Although Coleman won the election, the Democrat secretary of state insured that the Democrats stole this one. Statistically it’s impossible that all the recount decisions broke for the Democrats. The fix is in.
Making the “All In” bet?
Bout time the Republicans started playing the Dems at their own game.
Let’s hope the GOP in the House and Senate are taking notes.
I doubt it. They will probably blast Coleman for being “bi-partisan” which has replaced the boogeyman word for “Racist”.
The chicken asking the fox to join her for dinner. Yeah, sure, right...wonder who the “guest” of honor will be. Rediculous Bull$hit....but then, what would you believe of a state that elected Jessie “The Body” Governor? Sad.
How many times do I have to say it? Read Coleman’s letter (linked in a previous post). Norm’s not “reaching out” at all; he’s calling Al’s bluff. Al supports the lawsuit of 64 Franken voters who claimed they’ve been disenfranchised. Norm’s upping the ante and asking him, “Justice for all 12,000, Al?”
Let’s take it slowly: Read . . . Norm’s . . . letter. It’s a masterstroke of calling Blowhard’s bluff. Norm may still get screwed in the courts, but he’s not going down without a fight. The 12,000 voters for whom he’s filed a class action suit aren’t cherry-picked from Hennepin, Ramsey, and St. Louis counties.
Franken, like most Democrats, doesn’t care how the ballots are counted as long as he wins.
Most Democrats don’t believe in Democracy nor are they honest people.
They’re people?
Have you learned NOTHING, Norm?

This is how you play the game kids.
Ok, I read the letter. I feel bad for Coleman but the fix is in. His seat has been stolen by lawyers. The cat may play with the mouse some more but he’s dead. Most of us at FR knew on election night they were going to keep recounting until the Democrat was ahead, then stop.
If it weren't for Michele Bachmann, a whole lot of Minnesota conservatives would probably be packing their bags and moving to red states. If we lose the governorship in 2010, we'll probably have to. Even for all his green leanings, Tim Pawlenty is the only responsible adult who will stop unbridled spending in the DFL-controlled legislature.
Anyone who reads Norm's letter will realize it's an in-your-face challenge to Franken's sanctimonious blather. Let's litigate this right up to the Supreme Court and, if nothing else, show what frauds liberals are about "enfranchising all voters."
