McCain: Not many regrets about campaign
The Hill, Washington DC ^ | 2009-01-25 | Klaus Marre

Sen. John McCain (Ariz.), the 2008 GOP presidential nominee, said Sunday he had few regrets about his White House campaign and no second thoughts about picking Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin as his running mate.

“I don’t have a lot of regrets about it. I think we ran an honorable campaign,” McCain said on “Fox News Sunday.”

The Arizona senator added that he was proud of things he had accomplished during the campaign and the people he surrounded himself with. In addition, he argued, the campaign may have made him “more effective here in Washington in these very difficult times.”

Asked specifically about Palin, McCain stressed that there were no regrets.

“I think the world of Sarah Palin. She energized our party. She has a bright future in our party. I’m pleased to have known her and her wonderful family,” he stated.

McCain noted that there is a great need for bipartisanship in light of the challenges the country and its new president are facing.

The Republicans keep sending me mail asking for more money.

I gave to them when Bush was running, but not since then.

I stopped when I realized that McCain wasn’t going to fight back against all the Obama lies and fantasies. He wouldn’t stand up to Obambi and the media in some kind of delusional and naive or outright stupidity and pseudo “honor” or ethics pretense.

I thought when he selected Palin that he had just won the election, but I didn’t realize how incredibly nasty and lying that the media and culture was going to be.

Palin would have had a better chance against Obambi than McCain did.

Truth is being ignored in our world now. Islamofascism is out to destroy Western civilization, America and Israel and the Jews.

The left is in cahoots with them and want socialism.

The left is delusional about the nature of reality.

The political and culture war is about fantasy vs reality.

He does not need any regrets.
We have more than enough to go around.

I didn’t realize how incredibly nasty and lying that the media and culture was going to be.

Nor did I, the fact that no one seems to care about it today is what's most disturbing. They (msm) got away with a hatchet job and people could care less. What a country.

Regardless of what we think of him, I'm dismayed to see the immature comments about him on this thread. This is what Democrats are working toward, a complete separation between Republicans in power and Conservatives. It worked in this cycle, and they will aim to see it works every time. No, he wasn't perfect, nor a first choice for many, but lets get over it and not disintegrate the way some seem to be doing here. I suspect plants all over this site now are working to create the illusion that we are falling apart.

The political and cultural war is all about beliefs and fantasy vs empirical and pragmatic reality.

And other simple things like logic and science, etc.

I have so many friends and relatives that aren’t “fair and balanced” enough to do their own research and fact checking.

They refused to be swayed by facts and pragmatism and their own self interests or survival.

I get a little deranged when someone constantly sticks a knife in my back.
I tend to do my best to return the favor.
Though I can’t vote in AZ, I will donate to his GOP challenger and if need be his Democrat opponent in the general election.
I can’t stand this bitter little man and will work against him until he’s gone.

“They (msm) got away with a hatchet job and people could care less.”

A relative of mine is a professor at a large, well known university. She said she is stunned at the bias and ignorance of her liberal colleagues who have never heard the other side of an argument, who refuse to listen to anything other than MSM. The ruse is over, the liberals are NOT as smart as they continually tell everyone else, but are actually pathetically uninformed. I was stunned to hear Lawrence Summers on TV this morning refer repeatedly to “cops” instead of police. He was rather plain spoken, not impressive at all. If one can’t elevate his discourse to reflect his position, then it would appear he is simply unable to do so. Is this the best we have?

A lot of people mistake or equate FR to a republican site. The fact is, it’s a conservative site first and foremost.

I don’t vote straight GOP ticket because some of my local democrats are the conservative candidate. Only a fool would vote against their principles to vote for a liberal with an R in front of his or her name. True change (I hate using that word now) starts at the bottom and local conservatives will get my support reguardless of party.

“I can’t stand this bitter little man and will work against him until he’s gone.”

That’s rather pathetic. Who’s bitter here? Honestly, find something better to do with your time up there in Michigan. John McCain isn’t running again, and you are wasting our time with comments like this. Post your own bitterness on DU.

I think the RINOs on this site are a better fit over at DU.

So are those who speak so vituperatively about a man who has honorably served his country, but may not share every political belief of yours. DU is filled with that type, and FR, for the most part, has been relatively free of it. That’s why we suspect newbies who write in this tone, and suddenly there are quite a few. They stick out like a sore thumb here.

how does the media have so much influence over the Republican party after all this time of them bashing the republicans?

I don't really understand how McCain won other then the conservative side split their votes between a few candidates.

Um, you might want to take a look around. I think there are a total of two of you voicing support for McQueeg in this thread.
