Watch live.
Tom Harkin, D from Iowa, is now on the floor opposing Geithner’s nomination. This is the first ray of light we’ve seen on the issue and it’s a liberal Demcorat!
Hatch, Snowe and all the other Republicans who back him must be given hell over it. Call their offices! And call them tomorrow if they don’t have a change of heart in the next hour...
Must be cold in DC, Harkin has a sweater on the floor.
I can’t believe this guy is even being considered.
Just goes to show, their is two kinds of justice in America, one for the rich and connected, another for the working class.

Global warming.

Sufficient to say that criminals like to surround themselves with criminals. Obama’s cabinet looks like the bar scene in Star Wars ——
Hatch, Snowe and all the other Republicans who back him must be given hell over it.
:::::::::::::::
Although I don’t live in Utah, I called Hatch’s office and raised hell. They learned real fast what I think of RINOs.
lol Fitting image....We need to make those calls!
Your home Senators and Orrin Hatch and Olympia Snowe.
I believe that the other live thread started first: “ http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2172233/posts “
They won’t dare to not confirm him. He’s on every board of every group that owns their asses.
(CFR, BIS, Bilderberg, Group of Thirty, IMF, Fed Reserve, etc...)
The real COD (Coup Of the Day) would be for Timmy “bilderberg” Geithner goes down in flames. May hat off to Harkin. Watch the RINO vote (more Bilderberg’s)
Here comes Dick Durbin with the economic gloom!
Looks like Baucus won’t speak. I was hoping he’d take to the floor, he’d be one of our few shots at opening the flood gates. Dick Turbin is up instead and will probably eat the rest of the time up.
Here comes Dick Durbin with the economic gloom!
:::::::::::
That is the standard modus operandi from the liberal playbook. Doom, gloom, crisis, trauma, trouble, problems -— it is all they can surround themselves with in a miserable attempt to justify why they are even in Washington, DC.
Washington is a TOTAL DISGRACE to any REAL American.
Time to vote!
I could’ve sworn they just said MR. Lincoln. (Blanche may not be very pretty but her constituents in Arkansas could confirm should is a woman, I believe.) lol
I don’t hear anyone saying yea or nay, not do I see any tally of the votes going on.
Any idea how it is going?
The Senators are just getting into the chamber, maybe a big committee hearing just got out?
IF Bilderberg Geithner gets in, just wait for the flood gates to open with the same defense “It was an honest mistake”. And the Repubs BOUGHT it. How disgraceful this is for our Country. Starve the Beast. Then tar and feather those who voted for this POS. People are pissed. Don’t they get it?
If two more Democrat votes nay, we completely blew this due to a lack of balls/principles/insert term denoting these disgusting GOPers here....
We want Democrats to vote against his nomination don't we?
at least Susan Collins has integrity
http://washingtontimes.com/news/2009/jan/26/collins-vote-against-geithner/
Ms. Collins said that Mr. Geithner, head of the Federal Reserve regional bank in New York, “demonstrated a cavalier attitude” about his taxes during his confirmation hearing before the finance committee last week that “simply is not acceptable to me.”
She said he failed to comply with the tax laws, adding, “Even after Mr. Geithner was audited, he failed to make good on previous years’ obligations” to pay his taxes.
Mr. Geithner worked for the International Monetary Fund between 2001 and 2004 and did not initially pay self-employment taxes. He did pay taxes for 2001 and 2002 after he was audited by the IRS but did not pay for the years 2003 and 2004 until just before then-President-elect Obama nominated him for the post of Treasury secretary.
“I can’t in good conscience vote for Mr. Geithner,” the Maine Republican said.
If this doesn't result in a tax revolt, we completely blew this.
The next guy that tells me RINOs are better than nothing, hasn’t taken a good look at nothing lately.
We could easily block this nomination, and we didn’t even have one backbone in the Senate from our side of the isle.
Man is it ever time for a new broom in our party.
Forget the rest.
Independence, individual freedom, and a care for self effort is totally gone nationwide if a criminal wannabe takes charge of those who he used to create his illegal concerns.
Just in I see, he his confirmed....
People talk about McConnell holding the ship together pretty well but too bad no one had the guts to launch the filibuster. Even though it would’ve been quickly ended, that man or woman would’ve had the respect of many Americans. Too bad their beltway image is more important to every single one of them.
His Wikipedia entry says he was confirmed by a vote of 60-34. They’re fast with the updates.
We’ve got 41 people. There’s no excuse for this. We call the filibuster and let those who will side with the Democrats. At least we make our point. Let Republicans see what RINOs do to our cause.
Let's work on it and to make sure we can guarantee work in good faith and dilligence to boot, let's make sure our taxes are paid up to date come the 15th of April.
This way we can feel good with ourselves when we reside in the poor farm.
Congratulations Mr. Secretary, YOU are in charge now.
Give me a plunger. I’ll deposit my taxes alright!
No~ It's time for a NEW PARTY , PERIOD~~
At least we know (in real time) as to who is really in charge in a free nation with a government of the people, by the people, and for the people.
Now I really understand what is meant by true public service with the asked statement "So, how many years did you serve"?
How many years SHOULD you serve....
A tax cheat and a liar has become the enforcer of the tax laws in this country.
And the GOP couldn’t even muster enough party discipline to make an effective statement.
Thanks, Senator Booby Hatch, for that thrilling rendition of how Mr. Geithner is so qualified and so needed and such an expert. Gee, Senator, does someone have a compromising photo of you somewhere?!
This was a disgrace. The Senate is a disgrace. And the GOP is a disgrace.
Now, watch for a replay on Eric Holder.Another chance for the GOP to show that it has no spine and no testes.
How in the world would the GOP oppose an honest mistake, like “I didn’t know Marc Rich was a fugitive?”
We could solve the energy crisis by tapping the centrifugal force generated by the Class of 1776 spinning in their graves.
Then we would turn in to the Constitution, Libertarian, and Reform party, relegated to 1.5% of the general election votes.
I recommend changing the party. It can be done.
And the GOP couldnt even muster enough party discipline to make an effective statement.
It's kinda' getting tough to weed out an impression of a "peoples representative republic government" anymore.
Funny, I was thinking the exact opposite.
It seems to me it is now perfectly acceptable and encouraged to forfeit paying your taxes.
Also, if 10 million producers refuse to pay the taxes, where is the government going to get the money to continue bailing out failed companies, organizations and countries?
Enough is enough! If America is to be saved, the time is now and it is December 16, 1773!
Vote from Senate.gov
My Senators, both supposed to be R's, split. Kaye Baily, who want to be Governor, voted against, Cornyn voted for.
Surprisingly one of the Dem's against was "Bacon" "KKK" Byrd.
I’m all for heading in the Libertarian direction, now that the WOT is in full swing. Repubs are going to try to push Myth sKerry Romney on us next time around, after he and his leftish Hartard toadies finish torpedoing Sarah from their cruise yachts.
I’ll admit that I like some things about Libertarians, and dislike others. The truth is, they don’t pull in enough votes to make it worth my while to go that route.
I’m not going to give anyone a hard time for doing it.
You take care.
