State department officials have written at least three drafts of the letter, which gives assurances that Washington does not want to overthrow the Islamic regime but merely seeks a change in its behaviour. The letter would be addressed to the Iranian people and sent directly to Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, or released as an open letter.

The sellout to our enemies continues. He is “so being suckered in” isn’t he? First the news that he says the troups will be out Iraq, then he gives the notion that he’s reconsidering the missile in Poland, and how he’s mailing a letter to Iran’s leaders. The red (or yellow if you prefer) streak going down his back is getting more apparent every day.
It reminds me of the scene in “Independence Day” when the happy, jolly, peaceniks on top of the tall building greeting the enemy ship looked up with such promise of peace and BANG the ship took em out with one BOOM.
Ah, that would be the Western war adverse approach. The jihadist approach is entirely different: They see themselves as at war (perpetually), and they therefor follow the doctrine of attacking enemies when those enemies show weakness. And oh boy, is the zero showing weakness!

Can anybody think of a reason why Obama *won’t* just be Carter II? All I can think of is that inflation won’t be what it was because we have better monetary policy than we did then, but that’s out of the President’s hands.

I really think this is going to happen. And then what? Watch what happens to oil prices then. 0bama will have done NOTHING to get us toward real energy independence. We are going to have our backs to the wall and he’s going to back down.

After he gets this letter delivered, he will have one more to draft. If I might be at liberty, here is a rough draft to save him some time.
Dear Osama,
I just wanted to drop you a friendly note saying I hear your in bad health. Well I am sponsoring some really good health care initiatives and would love to extend my hand to you in getting back on the track of good health. Come to Washington when ever you like, I can send my new ride Air Force One to pick you up.
You can set yourself up in the East wing and chat with my friend William Ayers about reform and get the medical attention you really deserve. Stay as long as you like and be my house guest. Don’t worry about paying for anything, we have taxpayers.
