Having rejected anti-Israel divestment of its pension funds last year, the 7.9 million United Methodist Church is courting new controversy involving anti-Israel bias again this year. Starting February 3, the Methodist Building on Capitol Hill, from which the denomination conducts its political lobbying, will commemorate the nakba, as Palestinians refer to the "catastrophe" of Israel's creation.
The opening reception on Tuesday, February 3, will kick-off a three-week exhibition in the Methodist Building lobby called "Our Story: A Photo Exhibit Commemorating 60 Years of Dispossession." Friends of Sabeel Canada, an advocate of Palestinian Liberation Theology among left-leaning Christians, has produced the latest version of the traveling photo show. The reception is hosted by the Washington Interfaith Alliance for Middle East Peace, a small group of various religious adherents that advocates "divesting from or boycotting those companies" that "profit from the Israeli occupation of the West Bank, Gaza, and East Jerusalem."
According to an announcement from the United Methodist General Board of Church and Society (GBCS), which owns and occupies the Methodist Building, the exhibit "marks the annual observance of the nakba, the 1948 mass deportation of Palestinians, massacres of civilians and the razing to the ground of hundreds of Palestinian villages following the creation of Israel."

You’ve come a long way. Methodists!
Will they say anything about the expulsion of tens of thousands of Jews from Iraq, Syria, Egypt, and other Arab countries following the creation of Israel? How about the expulsion of the Jews in East Jerusalem after the city fell to the Arab Legion in 1948?
I happen to be a Methodist, and these people don’t speak for me.
Oh not again! We’ve become the new Catholics - that is our church leaders don’t think sometimes! Makes me angry! They don’t speak for all Methodists, I can assure you of that.
Fixed it.
We certainly have! We were at the cutting edge of the Great Awakenings of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries as well as the postbellum revival movement. However, there are still some Methodist pastors, parishioners, and bloggers who are fighting to save our church. As the Methodist hymn writer Leila Morris wrote in 1905, "The fight is on, oh Christian soldier!"
I just don't understand why liberals feel the need to pollute religious institutions.
Why can't inventing some imaginary religion like wicca or praying to some false god like allah be enough for them? I can assure them the Truly Religious and Conservatives will still find their actions stupid and possibly offensive, if that's what they're after.
Why must they attempt to draw The Righteous Ire of The Lord by wrapping themselves in a Real Church and trying to desecrate it with their evil ideologies?
AMEN.
The Methodist Episcopal church was a Christian community, one of the blessings of the body of Christ. Now it is the United Methodist Church, a curse, no longer teaching salvation except by political and social upheaval.
As a former elder in the UMC I saw it change from a loving community centered on Christ to a radical, leftist bureaucracy intent on purging its ranks of Bible believing Christians and aligning itself with world demagoguery.
There remains a small cadre of faithful Christians struggling to save this body from its ecclesiastical hell. I am not among them.
The upper levels of the UMC are idiots who have forgotten the purpose of the church. However, the individual churches are better or worse depending on the congregation and leadership. They are free to reject this sort of “leadership” if they so choose.
I know I’d be out of my church if I ever heard anything about the “nabka.”

The Lord Jesus warns the church of Jesus Christ how that the latter days will produce a lukewarm church that will have itching ears and that will produce pastors who are not of God's Christ but will be deceivers, liars and thieves and who will be judged and cast into hell for their deceit. The church is not a denomination, rather it is a people saved by the grace of God the Father (the God of Israel and Lord of Hosts is His name) through the finished work of His only begotten Son Jesus Christ who died for our sins and rose again the third day unto everlasting life and is now at the right hand of God the Father from whence He will come at the end of the seven year tribulation to set up His millennial rule on the earth.
At this point we see that Israel is back in the land by God's will and power and all that set themselves against Israel are under God's curse including the liberal fools of the marxist liberal so called Christian churches that have abandoned the Word of God as truth and become as the Pharisees and Sadducee's at the first advent of Christ Jesus our LORD and Saviour. God is using Israel to divide the world and will defend Israel during the end time wars predetermined to bring in the King Jesus Christ to rule and reign the whole world from Israel, Jerusalem being the city that He has decided to rule and reign from.
Zechariah 12:
1 The burden of the word of the LORD for Israel, saith the LORD, which stretcheth forth the heavens, and layeth the foundation of the earth, and formeth the spirit of man within him.
2 Behold, I will make Jerusalem a cup of trembling unto all the people round about, when they shall be in the siege both against Judah and against Jerusalem.
3 And in that day will I make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all people: all that burden themselves with it shall be cut in pieces, though all the people of the earth be gathered together against it.
4
In that day, saith the LORD, I will smite every horse with astonishment, and his rider with madness: and I will open mine eyes upon the house of Judah, and will smite every horse of the people with blindness.
5 And the governors of Judah shall say in their heart, The inhabitants of Jerusalem shall be my strength in the LORD of hosts their God.
6
In that day will I make the governors of Judah like an hearth of fire among the wood, and like a torch of fire in a sheaf; and they shall devour all the people round about, on the right hand and on the left: and Jerusalem shall be inhabited again in her own place, even in Jerusalem.
7 The LORD also shall save the tents of Judah first, that the glory of the house of David and the glory of the inhabitants of Jerusalem do not magnify themselves against Judah.
8 In that day shall the LORD defend the inhabitants of Jerusalem; and he that is feeble among them at that day shall be as David; and the house of David shall be as God, as the angel of the LORD before them.
9 And it shall come to pass in that day, that I will seek to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem.
10
And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn.
John 19:37 Ps 22:16
11 In that day shall there be a great mourning in Jerusalem, as the mourning of Hadadrimmon in the valley of Megiddon.
12 And the land shall mourn, every family apart; the family of the house of David apart, and their wives apart; the family of the house of Nathan apart, and their wives apart;
Matt 24:30
13 The family of the house of Levi apart, and their wives apart; the family of Shimei apart, and their wives apart;
14 All the families that remain, every family apart, and their wives apart.
