Children Can be Compelled to Receive Homosexual Indoctrination against Parents’ Wishes: Spanish Supreme Court

MADRID, January 29, 2009 (LifeSiteNews.com) - After three days of debate, the Spanish Supreme Court has declared that parents do not have the right to opt out of a national civics program that includes indoctrination in homosexualist ideology and other offensive elements.

The program, "Education for Citizenship," teaches children to make a "critical evaluation of the social and sexual division of labor and racist, xenophobic, sexist, and homophobic social prejudices" and instructs teachers to "revise the student’s attitude towards homosexuality." It was formulated by Spain's Socialist Worker's Party, which has held power since 2004.

Following the implementation of the program, families sued to secure status as conscientious objectors in the State of Asturias, where the local Supreme Court ruled that they could not exempt their children from the course. They then appealed the case to the Spanish Supreme Court, which ruled against the families yesterday 23-7, in a plenary session.

Organizations representing dissenting families were defiant, arguing that the decision was unconstitutional, and had no authority over the autonomous provinces of Spain.  They also announced plans to appeal the ruling to the nation's Constitutional Court, and beyond.

Parents who refuse to allow their children to attend, "are not committing any crime or illegitimate act with their children" said Benigno Blanco, President of the Spanish Family Forum, who also stated that "nothing is changing except for the four cases analyzed by the Supreme Court; all of the parents who have administrative or judicial coverage are perfectly able to impede their children from entering the classes."

Responding to the call of Spain's Minister of Education for all provinces to comply with the decision, Blanco stated that "the Minister can't give orders to the Autonomous Communities" and added that she "can't change the Constitution nor human rights. That is higher than the hollow words of the Minister."

Spain's socialist political establishment, however, was jubilant.

"I celebrate that with this the debate is finished," said Spain's Justice Minister Fernandez Bernejo, who added that "this situation has been created by the bad decisions of some autonomous communities who haven't fulfilled their obligation to educate children well."

Ideally, the United States should offer and grant refugee status to Spaniards, Germans, Canadians, and others who are persecuted for their adherence to Christian morality by being subject to government sanctions for opting out of homosexual indoctrination, home schooling their children, or preaching from the Bible regarding sodomy. However, the current regime would like such measures to be in place universally in this country, and would have no interest in Christian or traditionalist dissenters from other nations settling here. In fairness, these abuses took place while President Bush was in office, and not a word was spoken by the State Department to denounce these actions, which are human rights abuses.

It’s the law in many US states, and I’m not sure to what extent parents can opt out. We just did it more quietly and in a piecemeal form.

Spanish education is controlled by the central government of Spain, so this will be imposed uniformly all over Spain. Families - in fact, hundreds of thousands of Catholics - have been in the streets demonstrating against this, although of course that’s never reported in the US press (or even in the Spanish press, for that matter - you have to be there to even know it’s happened).

One thing I am sure Barry wants to do with his Education Dept. is impose a uniform program like this on all US schools.

Right now, I believe discussion of sexual preference in schools (and corresponding sensitivity training) would fall somewhere in the "health" curriculum. And, thus, in most states, there would be a law protecting children from that indoctrination.

One major part of the homosexual agenda is to have that condition given the status as a minority, just the same as race, sex, religion, or ethnicity. Again, should be no argument with that.

Well, once that happens, "sexual preference" will move from the "health" curriculum to the "social studies" curriculum. When that happens, there will be NO exemptions for children ("What, Mr. FReeper, you want your child to not receive some of her social studies education? What kind of parent are you?? No, no, no...this is not the health class. Of course, you can keep FReepette out of potentially objectionable parts of health class. But not SOCIAL STUDIES. Those are necessary life skills.")

AND, it will also be a part of private school education (required for accreditation, you know). AND, for states with monitoring in homeschools, it will be part of the requirements there, as well.

Just wait. Coming to a school district really close to you...

I can attest to that!! It is exactly what they are attempting to do in KY and TN. So far, it isn't working out to well for them. Butt with that one in office, no telling for how long.

We plan to, and thankfully my son is grown, but even he is planning to before he settles down to have a family. He also plans to homeschool, since he is going to school to teach. He already knows he will not be able to teach the truth in the NE and wants to change things.

The south is much better for families and for society in general, but as I said, with that one in office, I wouldn't be the least bit surprised to see that change too. It is a disgrace how the left has corrupted our culture and society. Teach kids that it's normal and healthy to enter into a deadly lifestyle. It is abuse and neglect to the extreme.

Every year, more and more students participate in the Day of Silence, which began 12 years ago when University of Virginia students wanted to find a way to bring attention to anti-LGBT name-calling, bullying and harassment on campus.

They used to post the list of participating schools. Surprisingly, along with the major state school districts, it included quite a few catholic and christian schools. The number of participating schools swelled over the years. I don't see it published at their site.

This is an insidious approach of indoctrinating children into the GLBT lifestyle. Many parents are not aware that it is happening in their children's school. This year's day of silence is scheduled for April 17. Check with your school to see if they are participating.

And while you’re at it, remember historian James Michener’s statement that no man who could stand up and say (quotation approximate, but close enough) “I am a Jew. Everyone has always known I was a Jew, and I have never pretended to be anything else,” was ever laid a finger on by the Inquisition.
