Congressman Eric Cantor & Rush Expose the Obama Porkulus Bill
Rush Limbaugh ^ | January 28, 2009 | Rush Limbaugh

RUSH: We'd now like to provide a little safe haven for Eric Cantor, congressman from Virginia, who just finished 20 or so minutes with Andrea Mitchell at MSNBC. Congressman, it's great to have you here on the EIB Network for the first time.

CANTOR: Rush, it is great to be on with you.

RUSH: I was able to read some of the closed-captioning, Congressman, when you were on with Andrea Mitchell, and it's gotta be a little frustrating, but you know, you guys are doing great. You're hanging really, really tight and tough up there against this because it's a pork bill that Obama said would not be a pork bill. He promised that there would be no pork in this. We're going to do new ways, and here -- it could be Andrea Mitchell; it could be anybody in the Drive-By Media -- just basically treating you as a suspect, accusing you of opposing this marvelous, miraculous package, just because it's His. I don't think she has the slightest idea what's in it, after you told her.

CANTOR: Well, and that's the frustrating part, Rush, but we're not giving up, and thank goodness you're there to try and help get the message out about what this bill is and isn't. This is a spending bill. This is not a stimulus bill. And, you know, the message to the president that I delivered on several occasions, has been this: "You were elected by the people of this country because they had hope that you would actually change the way that our federal government works so that it could start working for the people again, and the first order of business should be to cut the waste and pork barrel spending in Washington." This bill is so chock-full of government..... ….

To understand Obama the politician, you need to remember who he owes and watch how he is building his voting base for the next election with huge stimulus $$$ even to ACORN, a disreputable organizing group; his gift of restraint to our enemies over harsher treatment for incarcerated citizens of the USA.

Too bad Rush didn't ask the Congressman from Virginia why he voted for the first pork boondoggle bailout bill.

Exactly. These guys have absolutely no credibility. Boehner, and I guess this Cantor too apparently, voted for the first sellout bill. I guess it’s ok when a President with an (R) next to his name wants to give away huge sums of tax dollars, but not when a (D) wants to do it.

Flush all the bailout bums, start over.

Wake Up You Guys!!!!

We’re the ones who are supposed to be able to tell the difference between two pieces of legislation!!!

The first bill was to support multple financial institutions AFTER several had already failed.
With the information we had at the time, it seemed urgent and the right thing to do. (notwithstanding the lack of accountability in the measure)

THIS bill IS ALL PORK!
Pure vote buying, no stimulus!

YES! There is a difference!

Right thing to do?

Well, I suppose some might have thought so. But it seemed pretty clear to me it was not the right thing to do. Giving huge sums of taxpayer money to businesses who made foolish decisions with no accountability. Given the results so far, it doesn’t seem like it worked, either.

At the time it was not clear that there was no accountablity attached.
At the time it looked like institutions who were blackmailed by regulators into accepting inferior loans.

“Your ability to lend is dependent on your willingness to play this “affordable housing” game with us.”

For the record, Eric Cantor is my Congressman and I did vote for him.

I don’t recall ever thinking that the first bailout bill was a good idea. I’m all for allowing businesses that make poor decisions to fail.

The only difference between them is the first ones laid the groundwork and this one is following along. No business is “too big to fail.” All of them were all horse crap, and socialism is following.

...socialism is following.

Why I am a socialist

"We will find our way out of this mess by embracing an uncompromising democratic socialism--one that will insist on massive government relief and work programs, the nationalization of electricity and gas companies, a universal, not-for-profit government health care program, the outlawing of hedge funds, a radical reduction of our bloated military budget and an end to imperial wars..."
