The Boss apologizes for Wal-Mart deal, AC/DC is not sorry at all
BrandFreak ^ | 1/30/09 | Kenneth Hein

Bruce Springsteen, champion of the working class and all things New Jersey (and the halftime entertainment for Sunday's Super Bowl), has officially apologized for striking an exclusive deal with Wal-Mart to sell his current greatest-hits CD. The Boss tells The New York Times that he dropped the ball by not taking notice of Wal-Mart's labor practices. In one of the retailer's lowlights, it paid out $11 million for using illegal immigrants as janitors.

AC/DC, meanwhile, is sleeping soundly after striking a similar deal earlier this year. The resilient Aussie rockers' new album went to No. 1 on the Billboard charts. After 14 weeks, it's still at 43. I'm sure Bruce will feel terrible if Working on a Dream, which has been met with lukewarm reviews, enjoys similar success.

It would be interesting to see how the benefits compare between Walmart clerks and Springsteen’s roadies.

IIRC, Walmart paid (they had the big pockets), but the janitors worked for a contractor to Walmart, not Walmart itself.

This is how memes begin. The fact that it wasn’t Wal-Mart employing the illegals? Lost in the shuffle. Maybe Bruce will understand.

Baloney. He's only apologizing because the cd DIDN'T SELL. Bruce thought he was going to cash in, and when the cd bombed, he tries to re-cloak himself with his phony "man of the people" schtick.

Hilarious. Sprinsgteen also initially supported President Bush in the War on Terror, and was quoted in Time magazine saying he supported the invasion of Afghanistan and thought Bush was handling the situation post-9/11 properly. Then the lefty assholes got to him and he turned into another anti-war Bush-basher. He has obviously heard from the same people about his Walmart deal.

His instincts are usually right, but for some reason he wants to stay in the good graces of the Left so he changes his position as soon as he gets any flack from them.
