Governor calls up record number of Guard troops
Some 4,600 Kentucky National Guard troops are part of a record-setting effort to dig out from a paralyzing winter storm that continues to leave hundreds of thousands Kentuckians in the dark and is being blamed on a growing number of deaths.
"We're in for a long haul here," said Gov. Steve Beshear at a Saturday night press conference at the Boone Guard Center in Frankfort. Kentucky "is in the middle of the biggest natural disaster this state has ever experienced in modern history."
Beshear said state officials have confirmed seven deaths as storm related. But, he said, a total of 21 deaths are under investigation for being caused by the fierce weather conditions.
Updated numbers of Ky. customers without power Two nursing homes and six shelters in Western Kentucky, the hardest hit area of the state, have no power.

I believe, in this circumstance,seeing how it is Kentucky, Arkansas and the lower part of Missouri suffering, the phrase should be: “Let ‘em eat Moonpies.”
I guess we’re suppose to be able to handle “a little bit” of ice. He did scold the citizens of D.C. about just that recently.
How many parties, luncheons and private lil’ get-togethers has he hosted so far?
Thats not the point. He should offer help. At least he should acknowledge them. President Bush was on TV 2 days before Katrina hit begging Blanco to ask for help so he could send in Fema to help evacuate the people. He even drafted a formal letter and asked her to ask him for help, yet he was demonized for not being fast enough. Obama hasn’t even ackmowledged these suffering people and the media hasn’t said jack squat about it. Its a disgrace.

If this had happened with Bush still in office, the MSM, regardless of his response, would be slamming him 24/7..bet on it..
As I understand it, the governor definitely has to ask for FEMA help. He needs to do that if he hasn't already.
However--the Obammy could certainly visit the area, survey the damage and the lingering bad conditions, and offer the governor his support--and he might even say a word or two to the suffering people of the state.
Actually, I'm sort of surprised Obammy hasn't made a big deal photo op our of this---showing up, talking to victims, telling them he feels their pain!
Of course the Obammy doesn't like the temperature to be below about 76, I hear. Maybe that's what's keeping him away.
Well, the election is over the fools have installed him and his goons in office. Now they are of no more use to him. Next election cycle he will have a new bunch of fools.
Just as an afterthought, while going from here to threr around the house I have seen a good number of vehicles with either obama 08 or obama Biden bumper stickers on them. Most of them were occupied and driven by White pepole.

I suspect that the “private lil get togethers are far more numerous and incidious that any of us will ever realize.
