Donated scout land often ends up as cash cow (Attack on Boy Scouts)
San Francisco Chronicle ^ | Saturday, January 31, 2009 | Lewis Kamb

It's been 62 years since conservationist Virgil McCroskey gave the Boy Scouts 400 acres of timberland near this village in Idaho's panhandle, with big ideas for a big new camp.

But don't expect any pup tents or even the faintest whiff of smoke from Camp McCroskey these days.

Rarely used for camping, the land instead has become a moneymaker for the Inland Northwest Council of Boy Scouts. Over the past 35 years, the council has repeatedly logged the property, collecting hundreds of thousands of dollars. Some of the money helped pay the mortgage on council headquarters in far-off Spokane, a former council board member says.

Never mind that McCroskey specified how the scouts should use the land when he deeded it in 1947: "for camp and recreational purposes, the site to be known as Virgil Talmadge McCroskey Camp."

Council officials interpret McCroskey's deed to mean they can log the land, so long as revenues are spent on anything related to "recreational purposes."

This is part of a co-ordinated MSM attack on the boy scouts.

The basic reason for this attack is that the scouts promote love of God, family, country, and moral and ethical living.

Efforts to destroy the scouts focus on making it expensive for them to continue by denying them use of public facilities. This is an attack on their income.

They also successfully resisted a fag takeover.

Harrassment of BSA will not end.

in order for them to leave the BSA alone would be if they had an anal sex merit badge and made the badge an eagle requirement.

This sounds like what politicians like to do, go by the letter of the contract to get away with what the benefactor wouldn’t have approved of.

By the sound if it, he gave the land so the kids could do their scouting activities on it, and the BSA just blew off his wishes. Warning to anybody else who wants to donate to the BSA.

The soon-to-be-dead Seattle P-I (Pravda on Puget Sound) has also been running this story - on page one, of course. The leftist media hates decency as we all know.

My father had a farm in Pennsylvania that he was going to give to my brother but gave to the Boy Scouts when my brother died. I don’t think any of us have ever regretted it. I don’t care what they did with it, it was a gift.

More info here: Settlement silenced critics of logging

There is a huge amount of evidence that the scouts are simply properly managing the land gifts for the maximum benefit of the scouts and the people in general. All forest and wildlands CAN be managed, contrary to environazis wants. Envirowackos failed to manage Yellowstone (and many other forests) and burned them to the ground.

Are environazis EVER reasonable or are they always radically extreme liars who will falsify and plant evidence to allow court shopped judges to CONFISCATE private property? On the other hand, are Boy Scouts, farmers and wood products companies generally reasonable in renewable land management?

From the last link:

"The Boy Scouts had to suffer the consequences for sticking by their moral values," said Eugene Grant, president of the Portland, Ore., Cascade Pacific Council's board of directors. "There's no question" that the Scouts' anti-gay, anti-atheist stance has cost the organization money, he said. As a result, he said, "every council has looked at ways to generate funds ... and logging is one of them."

The scouts insist they manage the wild lands they own with sensitivity and care.

The Boy Scouts cannot ever satisfy the liar left until they become the Queer Scouts and have 100% Sodomite Scoutmasters/leadership.

These land gifts give them the economic ability to resist the ABSOLUTE perversion of the socialist left, and that alone is the reason these fag watermelons are unrelenting.

This is horrible. If the Boy Scouts had any sense of decency they would ask the government to pay their mortgage. Where do they get off doing it themselves and using their own darned resources to pay their bills? They should be ashamed of themselves.

What's wrong with the Scouts using THEIR land to grow renewable lumber? Is it the non-obstructionist, capitalist flavor that the liberals are choking on? Or is it the fact that a group of Scouts is demonstrating responsible stewardship of the land and still making a profit? Or is it the fact that it is a group of SCOUTS making the money?

Something tells me that if the ACLU was logging a private site for profit, the Lefties wouldn't have a thing to say.
