Bill creates detention camps in U.S. for 'emergencies'
WorldNetDaily.com ^ | February 01, 2009 | Jerome R. Corsi

Posted on 02/01/2009 8:02:02 PM PST by Man50D

Rep. Alcee L. Hastings, D-Fla., has introduced to the House of Representatives a new bill, H.R. 645, calling for the secretary of homeland security to establish no fewer than six national emergency centers for corralling civilians on military installations.

The proposed bill, which has received little mainstream media attention, appears designed to create the type of detention center that those concerned about use of the military in domestic affairs fear could be used as concentration camps for political dissidents, such as occurred in Nazi Germany.

The bill also appears to expand the president's emergency power, much as the executive order signed by President Bush on May 9, 2007, that – as WND reported – gave the president the authority to declare an emergency and take over the direction of all federal, state, local, territorial and tribal governments without even consulting Congress.

"Anybody toting guns and stripping moose don't care too much about what they do with Jews and blacks. So, you just think this through."

This is how the socialist left defines "emergencies". They want to create detention camps for American citizens and thwart their freedom of speech if they defy socialism while a the same time insisting Gitmo be closed.

Not so fast, the article states only that theoretically, there is nothing in the bill to prevent them from being used for sinister purposes.

No, but it's written by Corsi, so it might as well be. I'll wait for a more reliable source before I descend into my bunker.

Doesn't look all that sinister; #4 is ambiguous at best.

SEC. 2. ESTABLISHMENT OF NATIONAL EMERGENCY CENTERS. (b) Purpose of National Emergency Centers- The purpose of a national emergency center shall be to use existing infrastructure-- (1) to provide temporary housing, medical, and humanitarian assistance to individuals and families dislocated due to an emergency or major disaster; (2) to provide centralized locations for the purposes of training and ensuring the coordination of Federal, State, and local first responders; (3) to provide centralized locations to improve the coordination of preparedness, response, and recovery efforts of government, private, and not-for-profit entities and faith-based organizations; and (4) to meet other appropriate needs, as determined by the Secretary of Homeland Security.

(A) Is located in close proximity to a transportation corridor.

(B) Is located in a State with a high level or threat of disaster related activities.

(C) Is located near a major metropolitan center.

Thats one of the spots near me, actually much closer to my daughter and grandsons.

I note that the bill specifically calls out the definitions of emergency and disaster from the Stafford Act. Stafford specifically deals with natural disasters (The Katrina mess was a mess because the governor did not understand Stafford, and the word Stafford was never ever mentioned by the press).

He does not mention civil insurrection, martial law, or other such nefarious things.

Remember the mess that the displaced Katrina people caused everywhere they went? They were put all over the place but mostly in neighborhoods. If this bill were in place, they would have been sent to some base that had lots of empty barracks.

It depends who's in power. These facilities are designed to house people who are homeless from hurricanes or nuclear bombs in cities. hundreds of thousands of people who have no place to go.

Also useful for rounding up and incarcerating Freepers, people who listen to Rush/Hannity, Republicans, Christians, straights and people who have never traveled to France. Kind of a multi-purpose public facility, if you know what I mean...
