“Source, please?”
Thanks. First time I’ve seen any mention of a Palestinian connection. Though it’s not clear whether the octuplets’ mother, or grandmother have any Palestinian connection, or how much of a connection the grandfather really has. Lots of sane people have the area known as Palestine over the past few decades, so he may even have been taken out of there by his parents when he was very young. A lot of the early media reports seemed to suggest he was a native Iraqi, or at least had lived there before coming to the US, and one FReeper who had worked with Kurds immigrating to the US said Suleman was a fairly common name among that ethnic group.
There’s definitely no indication that these people are practicing Muslims, much radical jihadist sympathizers. If they were the latter, Nadya would have been killed a long time ago to save her father’s “honor”. Instead, he’s knocking himself out working to finance his daughter’s very unconventional lifestyle, and apparently approving of his wife spending huge amounts of time providing free child care to support Nadya’s ever-expanding brood. It looks like both the parents are allowing their adult daughter to run their lives — not something any sort of religious Muslim would do.
