DETROIT (AP) - Kwame Kilpatrick regained his freedom early Tuesday morning, emerging from jail after a 99-day sentence and stepping back onto the streets of the city he once ruled as mayor.
The 38-year-old Kilpatrick, about 25 pounds lighter than when he entered jail at the end of October, left the downtown Detroit facility wearing a dark suit just after 12:30 a.m.
On the sidewalk, Kilpatrick stood for a long moment amid bright television camera lights, a crush of awaiting reporters and swirling snowflakes, smiling occasionally to those in the crowd who called his name and shouted: "We love you, Kwame! Detroit loves you, baby!"
Flanked by a number of men, several dressed in fedoras and long coats, Kilpatrick then was rushed to a waiting blue Chevrolet Suburban. The Democrat waved from behind tinted windows as he was whisked away as part of a multi-vehicle caravan.
Kilpatrick made no statements to the media during his release, upon the orders of new defense attorney Willie E. Gary.
Culture of corruption, anyone?
He’s free to accept a job in the Obama Administration.
Out just in time to be a part of Obama’s team.
It’s gonna be raining at the strip club tonight.
I was about to say...He seems like a perfect Cabinet appointee!
Pretty amazed AP mentioned his party affiliation, albeit in like the 5th paragraph.
Fruit of Islam?
Name that party. Oh, never mind.
‘Twould be easier, perhaps to have a list of all dhimmicrats who are NOT either convicted felons or should have been convicted (e.g. sleezeball Teddy).
So how does an ex-mayor who has been in jail for over three months and is obviously now unemployed afford an entourage such as the one described?
Decades ago, Detroit had so much going for it.
The bigger question should be, why would these people even want to be associated with this convicted AH?
Just goes to show you, how many low life's and traitors we're surrounded by here in the U.S.
Nah...just a pack of wannabes not nearly in the same league with the Chambers Brothers, Errol Flynns, The Purple Gang & theYoung Boys Inc. Kwame is just another post-modern punk.
The good ol days of the motor city....ah!
“I used to rule the world, seas would rise when I gave the word. Now in the morning I sleep alone, sweep the streets I used to own.”
He’ll move right up the ranks of the democrat party.
“Decades ago, Detroit had so much going for it.”
Then came Liberalism.......
You only have to look at Detroit to see what happens when Liberalism takes over.
People on my dad’s side lived there. Many worked for Ford in the administration and on the assembly line. They left after the riots in ‘68.
You're not too far off. It's only a matter of time before we learn that he took bribes from Synagro...and didn't pay taxes on them.
Good for your Dad and likewise everyone else who left.
I was the last of my Family to leave Dearborn in 1979.
I remember those Riots well, - our City Mayor had water-cooled machine guns set up in Garbage trucks with the side doors open. “I remember the newspaper quote from the Mayor...”If they come this way ....start shooting., “I’ll take care of the paperwork””.
Detroit was a great town with beautiful Historic buildings and Churches now,......all a wasteland.
Time was that the Ford Rouge employed over 110,000 people.
I went last summer to a Rouge Plant tour with my brother and sister when we did a Family Reunion. It’s so sad, - all my relatives have left Detroit Metro Area.
Time was.........If you could’t get a job in Detroit....than you just couldn’t get a job period. Too bad the Libs have ruined one of the greatest cities of all time.
Now he can run for governor and be elected by the “battered vote syndrome” sufferers in Michigan.
The King is dead. Long live the King!...He’s already talking about taking his revenge against the people who did this to him...
Kwame petitioned today to be allowed to move to Texas to accept a job from Covisant, a division of Compuware. Peter Karmanos hired him on the same day he announced the layoff of 200 service workers from Compuware in Detroit. This guy must really have some magic to mesmorize a corp exec like this, or___________.
Fill in the blank
“This guy must really have some magic to mesmorize a corp exec like this, or___________.”
...They (Compuware) or he (Pete) owe(s) his mother a favor. A really BIG favor.
