“But...but...Steve Urkel morphed into ‘Urquell’”

Stephon Urquell, no less. Obama could eventually turn into Barock Obomba. But I doubt it.

You DO realize just how difficult an “impregnable” MDS system would be, right??

When one is dealing with MIRV and possibly MARV missiles, which are SPECIFICALLY designed to “evade interception”, to intercept even 95% of incoming RV’s (warheads), would be a BIG accomplishment.

Here is a bit of the reason::

On an “average” “dumb” RV, such as from an SS-18 or such, the RV will be moving at over Mach 25, or over 17.5K mph, once it is released from the “missile payload bus”. What this would basically mean, is that once deployed from the bus—there is VERY little time to intercept the RV. Average time to impact of a MIRV warhead after separation— a few MINUTES!! So—in order to be able to intercept this RV “exo atmospherically” (out of the atmosphere, where it will NOT be TOO devastating if it detonates—there would STILL be an EMP effect though, if it detonates out of the atmosphere..)), one would need to get your interceptor there at LESS than a MINUTE after deployment. IN order to do that—most likely the MDS system would need to be “in orbit”, and also, probably manned. and this is WITHOUT even taking into consideration, “decoys” launched by the payload bus, to make detection more difficult.

When one puts into the mix a MARV warhead, which Russia claims they are deploying on some of their new ICBM’s—it gets MUCH more difficult, as the MARV is “smart” and will do evasive maneuvers to prevent interception. That, coupled with the still extremely short time of TTI, and it is a VERY daunting task indeed, to intercept say, 1500 warheads, launched from 300 missiles with another 1500 decoys to confuse things—ALL in a matter of a few minutes.

The ONLY truly, 100% effective way to intercept ALL RV’s coming into this country, would be to take out the missiles in the BOOST PHASE, as they are launched and attaining coast altitude and attitude and “all in one piece”. The main problem with THAT—is that they are launched from the ENEMY ‘s country— over THEIR land, and boost phase is NOT long, often 3-5 minutes or LESS. Once boost is over—coast phase begins, and then, warhead separation occurs and it is then BIG time trouble to get all of the RV’s—before impact. The total time of impact from launch to impact is often less than 30 minutes.

So—it is a MUCH bigger problem, to intercept say 1500 nuclear warheads coming in, that say, 1 or 2, from some “rogue” nation, where the RV is not well protected, is alone, and with no or few “penetration aids” attached.

NOW—I did NOT say all of this—to say “it can't be done”. I believe it COULD be done, and that is EXACTLY what Reagan was trying to accomplish with SDI. BUT— it would take a LOT of time research and above all—MONEY. Given the current administration—I do NOT think that MDS is ANY sort of priority. All HE needs is the “word” of the enemy and he then believes “peace in our time”.

So did Neville Chamberlain.

Hey Obama,

Do you really think that the Russians will abide by any agreement to reduce nuclear stockpiles. Fat chance!

The Russians have been building nuclear weapons in the last few years. N0Bama wants to reduce our nuclear stockpile while the Sov—err Russians and Chinese get to keep theirs and continue building theirs up.

Obama=CarterX10, and the Russian KGB knows this.

You are correct, and their website shows 1,128 sq km.

I guess I was using thinking in kilotons & megatons and somehow a couple extra Zero's (0Bamas) crept in.

From "45 Communist Goals":
Congressional Record--Appendix, pp. A34-A35
January 10, 1963:

1. U.S. acceptance of coexistence as the only alternative to atomic war.

2. U.S. willingness to capitulate in preference to engaging in atomic war.

3. Develop the illusion that total disarmament [by] the United States would be a demonstration of moral strength.

Obama Pledges Cuts in Missile Defense, Space, and Nuclear Weapons Programs

February 29, 2008 :: News
MissileThreat.com

A video has surfaced of Presidential candidate Senator Barack Obama talking on his plans for strategic issues such as nuclear weapons and missile defense.

The full text from the video, as released, reads as follows:

Thanks so much for the Caucus4Priorities, for the great work you've been doing. As president, I will end misguided defense policies and stand with Caucus4Priorities in fighting special interests in Washington.

First, I'll stop spending $9 billion a month in Iraq. I'm the only major candidate who opposed this war from the beginning. And as president I will end it.[i.e. not win it]

Second, I will cut tens of billions of dollars in wasteful spending.

I will cut investments in unproven missile defense systems.

I will not weaponize space.

I will slow our development of future combat systems.

And I will institute an independent "Defense Priorities Board" to ensure that the Quadrennial Defense Review is not used to justify unnecessary spending.

Third, I will set a goal of a world without nuclear weapons. To seek that goal, I will not develop new nuclear weapons; I will seek a global ban on the production of fissile material; and I will negotiate with Russia to take our ICBMs off hair-trigger alert, and to achieve deep cuts in our nuclear arsenals.

You know where I stand. I've fought for open, ethical and accountable government my entire public life. I don't switch positions or make promises that can't be kept. I don't posture on defense policy and I don't take money from federal lobbyists for powerful defense contractors. As president, my sole priority for defense spending will be protecting the American people. Thanks so much.

New Pentagon Report: China's Growing Military Space Power
By Leonard David
Special Correspondent, SPACE.com
March 6, 2008

GOLDEN, Colorado — A just-released Pentagon report spotlights a growing U.S. military concern that China is developing a multi- dimensional program to limit or prevent the use of space-based assets by its potential adversaries during times of crisis or conflict.

Furthermore, last year's successful test by China of a direct-ascent, anti-satellite (ASAT) weapon to destroy its own defunct weather satellite, the report adds, underscores that country's expansion from the land, air, and sea dimensions of the traditional battlefield into the space and cyber-space domains.

Although China's commercial space program has utility for non- military research, that capability demonstrates space launch and control know-how that have direct military application. Even the Chang'e 1 — the Chinese lunar probe now circling the Moon — is flagged in the report as showcasing China's ability "to conduct complicated space maneuvers — a capability which has broad implications for military counterspace operations."

Russia, China flex muscles in joint war games
Reuters: Aug 17, 2007

CHEBARKUL, Russia (Reuters) - Russia and China staged their biggest joint exercises on Friday but denied this show of military prowess could lead to the formation of a counterweight to NATO.

"Today's exercises are another step towards strengthening the relations between our countries, a step towards strengthening international peace and security, and first and foremost, the security of our peoples," Putin said.

Fighter jets swooped overhead, commandos jumped from helicopters on to rooftops and the boom of artillery shells shook the firing range in Russia's Ural mountains as two of the largest armies in the world were put through their paces.

The exercises take place against a backdrop of mounting rivalry between the West, and Russia and China for influence over Central Asia, a strategic region that has huge oil, gas and mineral resources.

Russia's growing assertiveness is also causing jitters in the West. Putin announced at the firing range that Russia was resuming Soviet-era sorties by its strategic bomber aircraft near NATO airspace.

Confidence seems to be dropping in the new President right now, no denying it.

By his own hand, which is ironic.
