Obama says he is alarmed by deteriorating economy
Updated: Wednesday February 4, 2009 MYT 8:46:33 AM

WASHINGTON: President Barack Obama says he is alarmed at how fast the U.S. economy has deteriorated, and worrying about it keeps him up at night.

In a series of network television interviews, the president said the short-term outlook is bleak.

He told CNN that even three months ago, most economists would not have predicted the economy was "in as bad of a situation as we are in right now."

There is "no magic bullet," he told Fox News. But he said that working with Congress on his economic package, "We are closer to getting it right."

Other points he made

Obama says the United States can win over moderate Muslims if officials choose their words carefully.

He was asked in an interview Tuesday why he does not use the phrase "war on terror." Obama said he wants to emphasize that America is battling terror organizations like al-Qaida, not the Muslims.

**SNIP**

Cooper did not ask whether Obama had smoked outside the White House grounds since he was sworn in on Jan. 20.

**SNIP**

With little notice, the president and first lady Michelle Obama bolted the gated White House compound in their tank of a limousine on Tuesday.

They ended up at a Washington public school, greeted by children who could not care less about the collapse of a Cabinet secretary nomination.

"We were just tired of being in the White House," the president candidly told the gleeful second-graders at Capital City Public Charter School.

"We got out! They let us out!" Mrs. Obama said as the kids and their teachers laughed.

All those parties don't seem to keep Hussein up at night.

I also hear his poll numbers are tanking. Welcome to the real world, Barry.

Remember Rahm Emanuel's motto, "Never waste an crisis!" Obama needs to maintain a crisis to push his agenda. Even if there isn't really a crisis.

"Obama says he is alarmed by deteriorating economy"

He should have said, "Just because the Dem party and our Media minions talked the economy down for two years, doesn't mean we actually thought we'd succeed." "Hopefully we can talk it back up a lot faster."

I don't think so.

People are beginning to realize they've been punked by this rookie and he knows it. That's what keeps him up at night and that's why he is going on the tube. Next, he'll slowly take his shirt off during an Ellen show to see if he “still has it.” It will be a pathetic and most embarrassing fall.

They are ‘tired’ of ‘just being in’ the White House.

Oh my.

You know, this is not a time to be so cavalier about America or its people. People don’t get all snugly thinking of how ‘bleak’ the economy is, especially not from the Leader of the Free World.

Unfortunately Obama has NOT yet figured out he has been made the CAPTAIN of the TITANIC.

The financial problems confronting America and NOT directly solvable through FIXING THEM. The economy must MEND ITSELF NORMALLY which, itself, is an UNPLEASANT experience, to say the least.

Spending MORE MONEY will NOT get this Country out of debt. What it does is shckle the next TWO GENERATIONS of AMERICANS with MASSIVE DEBT.

problem is, he has people so scared they are not spending, so things seem even worse.

But if we thought the economy was OK, we’d laugh down his proposals.

It's amazing what happens, Mr. 0, when you talk down the economy every chance you get (after assuring America you knew the recipe to bring back stability) while proposing nothing that will stimultate the economy but instead support a pork-laden, Democrat constituency-paying congressional bill, and you wonder why the economy is as bad as it is?

Brian Williams reported that five network anchors were left cooling their heels in the West Wing ,
after being summoned for interviews-
when Barry and Michelle
suddenly stiffed them and screeched away from the White House.
If President Bush had done this-
all the cables would have on psychiatrists discussing stress and signs of mental instability.
When the going gets tough, Barry books.

He’s got to frighten us real good if we are to accept the socialism he’s gonna ram down our throats.

Everyday as I think about the dangers being foisted on our country by O and the Dems I always think of that quote Biden said about Obama being tested by a manufactured event in six months:

"It will not be six months before the world tests Barack Obama like they did John Kennedy. The world is looking. We're about to elect a brilliant 47-year-old senator president of the United States of America. Remember I said it standing here if you don't remember anything else I said. Watch, we're gonna have an international crisis, a generated crisis, to test the mettle of this guy.

I can give you at least four or five scenarios from where it might originate. And he's gonna need help. And the kind of help he's gonna need is, he's gonna need you - not financially to help him - we're gonna need you to use your influence, your influence within the community, to stand with him. Because it's not gonna be apparent initially, it's not gonna be apparent that we're right."

Biden is an idiot but when you hear the clip it is the one time that he seems quite convinced of what he was saying, coupled with the fact that this was recorded in a closed fundraising event so Biden didn't have the standard incentive to bloviate whenever network news cameras were around.

Scary.

What a-holes. There are two benefits to the Obama's joy ride - the slobbering, worshipping media big wigs were stiffed and Obama clearly needed to escape (and screw up traffic for a time) to avoid talking about the really bad day he had. Thus he and the Mrs. stole away and decided, just like the Palestinians "Freedom Fighters", to use children as their shields from the "bullets."

Little tip, President Fist Bump: if you keep dissing the media that made you then you may be in for the old Bill Cosby line about his father's number one threat: "I brought you into this world so I can take you out."

The stop at the school underscored a promise that the Obamas made and insist they will keep: to avoid getting caught up in a White House bubble. They say they will be visible parts of the Washington community - even in the midst of a hectic day. Or a difficult one.

See - everything is a plus no matter what the Obama's do. Leaving anchors waiting around, giving the secret service heart palpitations with an unplanned trip, and tieing up traffic is just to avoid getting caught up in a White House bubble. How about it was a childish attempt to escape the duties of the Presidency that was anything but transparent, showed a distain for the House of the People, snarled up traffic and left the world briefly wondering what the heck was going on.

A visible part of the community - even if it is a difficult one? Please. Is there some form of bravery for essentially skipping class to hang out with unquestioning friends? The Obamas, Dems and the LMSM - I don't have anymore puke to puke.

Lets see, a communist muslim from Kenya lies his way into the WH promising to raise taxes and redistribute wealth and he's surprised that corporations are cutting costs and hiding money?

A real economic genius, this lawyer from Harvard who's tuition was mysteriously paid for by a muslim extremist, and there ain't no 1994 GOP revolution in the works to turn this around.

Corporations are doing exactly what POTUS MUZZIE HUSSEIN and his commie comrades least expected; giving the USSA government all of the responsibility for the workers they no longer need because they don't have the money to pay them anymore and still remain profitable.

They're shedding them before the socialist government makes it illegal to fire people.
