Economic Stimulus Package is Socialist
The Anchor ^ | 2/3/2009 | Richard Anatone

Posted on 02/05/2009 2:34:06 AM PST by markomalley

I will be blunt.  President Obama’s “$825 Billion Economic Stimulus Package” is a failure.  It will not work.  It is Socialist, and has racist undertones.  It will hand out $275 billion in welfare checks.  It will not stimulate the economy.  In fact, it will just lengthen this economic recession we are currently facing.  It will not create jobs; it will steal jobs from the private sector and make our big federal government even bigger at the taxpayer’s expense.  Obama’s plans have been proven not to work in the past, in this country and in others.

First off, how is this plan a failure?  The belief of spending our way out of a recession is ridiculous.  How can a government that is already hundreds of billions of dollars in debt spend more money (that it does not have) to get out of debt?  Obama would like you to believe that this plan will “save and/or create 3-4 million jobs.”  Thomas Bartold, the Deputy Chief Staff of the Joint Committee on Taxation, was asked during a Congressional hearing the following question earlier this month: “Can you tell us how many jobs will be created as a result of this legislation?”  His answer?  “In short, Mr. Camp, I cannot.” Mr. Camp then asked, “So we don’t have an estimate of the number of jobs that this would create either private sector or public—we don’t have an estimate of the economic effect that this legislation might have on our economy, whether it would create any growth in our economy at all—We don’t have that data before the committee today?”

What was Bartold’s response?  Darting his eyes back and forth, nodding “yes” and shrugging. We are not even sure that this bill will create any jobs, and Obama wants this passed before President’s Day Weekend.  This has failure written all over it.

But let us look at the bill to see how much money is going to be thrown at different places.  Some of the “priority investments” that the bill will throw money at include: $650 million to help Americans upgrade to digital cable; $44 million to repair and improve the headquarters of the Department of Agriculture in Washington, D.C.; $3.1 billion to fund “infrastructure projects” on federal land, including $1.8 billion for the National Park Service; $650 million for the U.S. Forest Service, and $300 million for the National Fish Hatcheries; $1.2 billion to create an estimated one million summer jobs for young people; $2 billion to provide day care services to 300,000 additional low-income children, ostensibly while their parents are at work; $2.5 billion to upgrade government-owned housing projects with new insulation, windows and furnaces; $6.2 billion to weatherize the homes of low-income people to make them more energy efficient; $600 million to “prepare our country for universal healthcare” by training more doctors, dentists and nurses; $20 billion to provide “nutrition assistance” for middle-income families and to lift restrictions on how long people can receive food stamps; $600 million for NASA, including $400 million for projects such as “satellite sensors that measure solar radiation critical to understanding climate change”; $2.4 billion for projects demonstrating carbon-capture technology.  Let’s not forget the $275 billion to give people who pay no income taxes; taking from people that pay income tax and payroll tax, and fully refunding those who just pay payroll taxes, just to name a few.

Can someone out there tell me how these will create jobs?  An upgrade to digital cable is creating jobs?  Funding fish hatcheries is creating jobs?  Upgrading government-owned housing projects is creating new jobs?  They have no idea how many jobs, if any, this will create; the deputy chief staff of the Joint Committee on Taxation said it himself!  They are throwing money in every direction and hoping that some of it sticks. Not to mention the amount of welfare this bill has.  Daycare services to kids (obviously free), weatherizing low-income homes, preparing our country for Universal Health Care, and giving nutrition assistance and no restrictions on food stamps (free food, duh) to the middle class?  This bill is making the middle class and the poor dependent on charity and destroying the idea of personal responsibility and charity. Money thrown at researching “climate change” is another atrocity, especially when more and more research is disproving man-made global warming theories (http://debunkglobalwarming.cjb.net).

Let’s assume, for one second, that jobs rebuilding our roads, bridges and highways will be created.  Who will get those jobs?  According to Robert Reich, one of Obama’s economic advisors in an Economic Recovery Plan meeting (Jan. 7) said, “...infrastructure spending is a very important and good way of stimulating the economy.  The challenge will be to do it quickly.”  He also said, “I am concerned, as I’m sure many of you are, that these jobs not simply go to high-skilled people who are already professionals, or to white male construction workers...I have nothing against white male construction workers; I’m just saying that there are a lot of other people who have needs as well...and therefore, in my remarks, I have suggested to you...ways in which the criteria can be set so that the money does go to others—the long-term unemployed minorities, women—people who are not necessarily construction workers or high skilled professionals.” Let’s see.  We need to spend money on infrastructure, build roads and bridges quickly, and have people who may have absolutely no idea what they are doing take these jobs over those that may be highly-skilled professionals just because they happen to be minorities.  You know, people who know how to build bridges and roads.

And here I was thinking that we should have people who know what they’re doing build our roads and bridges.  Maybe we should implement the same ideas for employing doctors and emergency personnel.

This is the most racist thing I have ever heard in my life.  Remember Martin Luther King Junior’s speech?  The one where he says we should be judged by our character rather than our skin color?  This guy obviously didn’t get the memo.  This isn’t a plan to create jobs; it is a plan to spread the wealth around, to quote Barack Obama.

People, it is time we call this what it is: Socialism.  Big government is funding everything.  Big government is infringing on the private sector.  Big government is giving out welfare and free everything to the poor and middle class.  Big government is provoking class-warfare.  This is massive deficit spending.  This is FDR on steroids, and will do nothing to fix the economy.

Am I the only one who remembers the $700 billion bank bailout?  And how $350 billion has been unaccounted for?  Now, we’re going to give the same government run by the same power-hungry Marxists an even bigger check to fix the mess that they are responsible for?

Not to mention that with the bank bailout, Bank of America’s number one shareholder is now the U.S. Federal Government (but keep this quiet; some people are still convinced that our banks aren’t becoming nationalized).

To quote Samuel Adams, “The Utopian schemes of leveling [redistributing wealth] and a community of goods [central ownership of all the means of production and distribution], are as visionary and impractical as those which vest all property in the Crown.  These ideas are arbitrary, despotic, and, in our government, unconstitutional.”

You want a real economic stimulus?  How about abolishing the income tax for a year?  Let the people who actually spend money in the economy keep all of their money.  Do you know what that would do to the economy?  How about we abolish the capital gains tax?  Let the 52 percent of American Citizens who own stock buy and trade without fear of big government taking away their earnings! And if you’re upset that these tax cuts only help those with jobs, then abolish corporate tax for a year.  Let businesses (big and small) keep their money so they can expand and hire more people.  Let the free market work for once!

Of course, to embrace these plans, you would need to be a Capitalist who wants the economy and the Country to thrive and prosper, not an elitist Socialist/Marxist thug like Obama, Pelosi, Reid, and the rest of those idiots we have running this country.

Oh yeah, I fully support having our infrastructure improved by a crew of homeless winos, crack addicts and gang bangers!

Kudos to the author.

What a right-on article! I hope Richard Anatone is a young person, because I like to believe there are still some young people who haven’t been totally indoctrinated. I sent this article to both my Senators. I couldn’t state it better.

US Economic Stimulus Bill Nears Final Vote (It's still $900 billion! GOP time to filibuster)

Excerpt:
"The final vote is looming after senators unanimously approved an amendment Wednesday to provide a $15,000 tax credit for homebuyers.

The provision, sponsored by Republican Senator Johnny Isakson, would add $19 billion to Mr. Obama's $900 billion plan.

If nothing else this is refreshing to hear from a college student and should give us “hope” that the future is bright.

Can someone out there tell me how these will create jobs?

It is not going to and you already know that.
95 % of the so called Stimulus Bill is about power and votes
Paying off those groups that voted these people into power and then getting more hooked on the Government teat to insure they stay in power.
Socialism 101.....

George Bush was not alone in this. A vast majority of his ADMINISTRATION was/are Liberal democrats. Go back and look at who was pushing that this was URGENT and had to be done right now or else.....and were having late night meetings (while the rest of us slept) trying to push the plan through. Remember Pelosi, Reed, Franks?

Listen to Obama now.....it's URGENT that we pass this.....it'll be catastrophe if it doesn't get passed....yada....yada......It's the Liberal way.

God Help Us!

Absolutely yes. I can remember the howls of protests from Bushbots when Jeffrey Hart called Bush a "Christian socialist"several years before the bailout, but it was true.
