Resignations at the RNC (Steele cleans house)
The Politico ^ | February 5, 2009 | Ben Smith

Posted on 02/05/2009 5:12:28 PM PST by rightwingintelligentsia

A Republican source says newly elected Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele has requested the resignations of the entire RNC staff and signaled a dramatic turnover at the party organization.

Some aides may be retained, though Republicans are under the impression that Steele will lead a large-scale changeover in the institution, which has about 100 staffers. Obama's new team at the Democratic National Committee also requested mass resignations.

Many, including communications staffers, have been told their last day is Feb. 15.

Why would you think that? First everyone says the RNC is all RINOs. Then when Steele cleans house, he’s getting rid of conservatives? Man, these guys can’t win.

I am pretty much fed up with the Republican party. I had decided to just sit out the last election until McCain picked Palin.

From what I have heard of Steele he is more of the same.

I bet all the conservatives will be purged

If you are not pro- gun control, pro-gay, pro-liberal, you need not apply

Steele was the last thing the GOP needed

Right here:

Click on the “RNC is Hiring” link on the title graphic.

You’ll probably need to have either communications experience or previous campaign/GOP experience.

Too clever for me. Why don’t we see who actually is cleaned out. But I repeat, when it was asserted that ONLY the RINOs were in the RNC, and he cleans house, how can he possibly be getting rid of conservatives? Doesn’t compute. Either there were conservatives there before, and people misrepresented, or they are misrepresenting now.

If Steele is going to pander to the illegal alien and pro-amnesty types, as he has hinted, he might as well close up shop.

Steele’s biggest duty is raising money. For years that money for Republicans came from the small donors and average citizens, not the big rollers like the Democrats.

Those people are totally turned off by the RINO-agenda clowns who ran the RNC. If Steele doesn’t put the right people in, they money will still not come in.

The rank-and-file are not going to fall for that McCain deception again.

I'm cautiously optimistic about Steele, but this is the kind of start I was hoping for. It will be interesting to see what comes next.

In the past, Steele has said some things that make me doubt his being the right man for the job, but that was then and this is now. We don't need another Duncan running things and we definitely don't need any more moderate rinos running for office.

It has to be a good thing. After several letters and emails over the past few years and receiving identical from replies, I'm convinced that the commmunication staff, either on their on or on instructions, filed everything in the round file.

Hopefully, there will be some people running the show with spines and respect for the Constitution.

You can look them up yourself. I have seen on this forum where he is pro gun control and affirmative action. Wants us to reach out to the illegal alien and abortion types.

A blind man can see that the Republicans are trying to be more like Obama. Of course he is far better than Obama but that is not saying much.

I’ll wait to see what he is going to do. If he restaffs with socially liberal, anti gun people, he will get the same support I’ve given the RNC for the past four years, nothing. If he restaffs with people who are going to rebuild a principled Republican Party that can win. He’ll get my billfold to open up. At the moment, I don’t know who Steele was talking about when he said he would roll over the obstructionists, or something like that. Does he think RINOs who support and vote for Democrats are obstructing the party, or does he think principled conservatives are obstructing the the party? ...I can always support my state and local Republican Parties, or find conservatives to support.

Oh they ought to care. The last thing that the democrats ought to want is that the incompetent loons on the RNC be replaced. The first 500 names in the Boston telephone directory would be a better choice, to paraphrase WFB.

Conservatives at the RNC? If they are conservative they are also the most incompetent group of people I have witnessed when it comes to campaigns. How about Voter Vault who still has my son listed at his fraternity address from 5 years ago. I personally don’t care if they are conservative, moderate, or liberal when they are incompetent and waste donation dollars.

First thing I wanted was for Steele to clean house from top to bottom. Too many college kids were hired that would come into the states with their attitude to tell long time activists how to run campaigns. It was beyond ridiculous. They could probably run the place with 1/2 the staff if they hired competent, experienced people.

I am 100% in favor of this.

Steele just better start kissing a certain Governor from Alaska’s backside. She is the new face of the Republican party. She is who will raise money for the Repubs over the next four years. And if he doesn’t like her, he darn well better start pretending he does!

Remains to be seen whether this is a purge on ideological grounds, or of those simply seen as sucking at winning elections, or a customary housecleaning when a new chairman comes in, so he can put in his own people. I’m going to support individual candidates I’ve examined, not contribute to the RNC given that Steele supports affirmative action, is squishy on abortion and gun control, and aims to promote squishes in the Republican Party.
