Thats just a fact of life. McCain’s plan isn’t much better, but then again thats not surprising since as he admits he’s basically an idiot on economic matters.

“The American people are figuring it out that this is not a stimulus bill, it is a spending bill full of unnecessary spending, unexamined policy changes and of course, tax cuts which really do not stimulate the economy,” said McCain.

“You cannot call a bill bipartisan if it has two or three of four or even five Republicans out of 535 members of Congress. You can call it an agreement, but not a bipartisan agreement,” said McCain.

McCain’s plan contained a one-year cut in the payroll tax, which would help all wage-earners, as well as reductions in the two lowest income tax brackets that would benefit only those who earn enough to pay income taxes.

______

Good for McCain. He needs to keep it up!

This is essentially the 2009 Friends of the Democrats Payoff Act.

Why any Republican in their right mind would vote for this, or even seek to make it more reasoned so it could pass, is beyond me. This thing is rotten from a to z.

The “bailout” in October was supposed to solve all these problems (McCain and Obama voted for it). Suddenly we need ANOTHER 900+ billion dollar “bailout”? When this one doesn’t work what will the next “bailout” be? 2 trillion?

I feel sorry for my grandchildren and great grandchildren having to pay this back. They’ll never have a decent lifestyle, having to pay this bloated pig of a Democrat government.

"But isn’t he the one who suspended his own presidential campaign to become part of this package?"

Oh, no, that was a totally DIFFERENT "rescue" package. That was a vote for funds to bail out "troubled assets", which to the best of anybody's knowledge, were never applied to that purpose. THIS "rescue" is a mortgage on the future of the US, in the headlong rush to commit to a form of government that will be SO much better than the paradise that is Cuba.

Look, Palin and other conservatives supported the initial bailout too, under the guise it would really help the banks. I think they learned their lessons now, and Palin admitted that there shouldn't be any more bailouts after the October one.

If McCain is opposing the new stimulus, then he should be applauded, not derided. What's done is done and unfortunately we can't go back in time.

That's right, genius! If you'd care to review the news and polls before Bush announced his "Cry-sus" with yes-man Paulson at his side, you'd discovered that the McCain/Palin ticket was ahead on all counts. The ticket then became "McBush" "Continuation of Bush's third term," etc. No campaign can be successful with a lead weight in the form of GWB tied to its heels.

You may have purchased your last new automobile.

My last new auto was a 2008 Mercury Mariner Hybrid. In 2008, I added 6 new motorcycles to my household. I paid cash for all but one. Those are my fair weather transportation. My 1999 F150 was purchased used with 22500 miles in August 2003. I just crossed the 30,000 mile mark in Dec 2008. It's going to last a long time. I need the 4x4 trucks for winter driving. They also serve to haul goods from shopping trips. Other than that, I plan to enjoy traveling on two wheels again. The summer "joy rides" will be on 2 wheels.

That was when the country and the Republicans were told we faced economic collapse if we didn't do the bail-out. We were told how it would hit Main Street. Well, we see how well that worked out becusae here we are on Main Street anyway. The Republicans learned a hard lesson from that B.S. -- that's why no one is going for the sky-is-falling approach obama is now using.

So now you are a member of the blame Bush crowd. Good for you.
McCain did everything he could to disavow himself from Bush. I dont seem to remember Bush hitting the stump for him.
McCain did himself in by his history of backshooting Conservative values. He wasnt submarined by Bush, he was done in by his weak-kneed, Liberal leanings. He POd the Conservative base by his action in the base. And the funny part is he isnt sorry he did it. Honestly, would McCain have gotten any votes from conservatives if he didnt name Palin as his VP pick. Would you have voted for him if he named someone like Ridge or Lieberman. Maybe you would, but a lot of die hard Conservative would have stayed home.
The only thing he did good was bringing Palin to the stage.

Just before noon on Friday, Sen. Ben Nelson (D-Neb.) emerged from Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid’s (D-Nev.) office and said the key to announcing any deal will be persuading four Senate Republican negotiators to sign onto the amendment. The Republicans who Democrats are trying to strike an accord with include moderate Sens. Susan Collins (Maine), Olympia Snowe (Maine), George Voinovich (Ohio), and Arlen Specter (Pa.). Collins has served as the lead GOP negotiator.

IT IS TIME FOR A FILIBUSTER!! These are the wobbly Republicans. We have had issues with reaching some of their offices, so we recommend faxes and phone calls to their state offices. That information is at the bottom of the page. Now is not the time to grow weary. We are making a difference. If you heard President Obama's speech last night or Harry Reid's from the Senate floor, you know we are VERY close to shutting this thing down. Please do what ever you can to bring about the demise of this bill.

The problem is that McCain is not opposing the stimulus, period- just the version that doesn’t match his “fiscal hawk” spending image. He’s playing a charade. I deride McCain because he’s not trustworthy. Whatever he is cooking with senate democrats as an alternative is guaranteed to be a watered down liberal spiced stew, plus he’s a damned hypocrite for screaming about how full of pork this bill is after he pushed and voted for the POS bailout that Bush signed into law last year.

What an idiot. If the plan actually had the 4 million jobs he promised it might have actually passed. They want to spend more than a trillion dollars on this piece of crap. Just cut every American family a $20,000 check to spend and call it a day.
