We have yet another moonbat senator to add to the list: Michigan Democrat Senator Debbie Stabenow. This woman thinks that right now would be the perfect time to bring back the Fairness Doctrine. Interviewed on a talk show yesterday, Stabenow said, "I think it's absolutely time to pass a standard. Now, whether it's called the Fairness Doctrine or something else - I absolutely think it's time to be bringing accountability to the airwaves. I mean, our new president has talked rightly about accountability and transparency. You know, that we all have to step up and be responsible. And, I think in this case, there needs to be some accountability and standards put in place."
If Stabenow gets her way we could expect these hearings as soon as this year.
Me? Thanks for asking. I'm loving this. I welcome the hearings - and I relish a Democrat-led attack on talk radio. Can you say "more listeners?" With more listeners come higher ratings, and with higher ratings come higher prices for advertising .. and with more money comes ...well, you connect the dots.
There is one problem though, since the hearings will be conducted by Democrats you can rest assured that the list of witnesses will be tightly controlled. It is highly doubtful you'll hear any testimony from experts who can tell these hacks that leftist talk radio fails simply because people can't stand listening to that dogsqueeze.
Left wing talk radio, with a few exceptions such as Ed Schultz and Stephanie Miller, does not get ratings. Two viable hosts cannot keep the genre afloat. No ratings - no advertising. Therefore it loses money. How simple is this?
Look ... the left-wing talk radio station in Washington DC, for goodness' sake, just flipped formats. This station even used "Obama" in its title. If left-wing "Obama" talk radio can't make it in DC, where can it succeed?
Well, there's always Madison, Wisconsin.
Oh and by the way, this might be of some slight interest to you. Stabenow is married to the co-founder of TalkUSA Radio network and is now the Vice President of ... wait for it .. Air America.
That only applies to Republicans.
Silly rabbit. Laws, rules, and taxes are ONLY for Republicans and the poor.
These people are just BEGGING for an ass whipping. And...they are gonna get it!
They will bring it on....Bambi will move to silence his critics. He appears to prefer “emergency” reasons for his actions - so I suspect he will commandeer the airwaves with promises that they will be restored later.
What is the procedure for recalling a US Senator?
When will the LEFT be handing over half of the cable news shows? Half of the News Papers?
They have our public schools and universities.
Conservatives corner AM radio and their indoctrinating utopia is threatened? AM freakin Radio?
her hubby is an air america bigwig!
As defined why WHO???
“You know, that we all have to step up and be responsible.”
Why doesn’t she use the same words to her constituents in Detroit?
No conflict of interest there....
Stabusnow is a liar. Why wouldn’t she hate the truth?
and will be stifled.
not to my surprise stab’s # was busy when I tried calling her today..
Proving again that the free market insures that higher quality products will eventually be purchased.
This ditz is demanding STANDARDS. A member of the party that demands the elimination of standards. There must be NO such thing as ETHICAL standard. No RELIGIOUS standards. No SCHOLASTIC standards. No standards of any kind that violate the tenets of the kook left in what is left of the USA. “Standards” lock people into rigid boundaries...they must be FREE to think, talk, and act as they wish. Unless, of course, they have the gall to disagree with the “beautiful people”. No kidding..God—help the USA
Can’t say I blame him.
Apparently, it is now a job requirement.
These twits can pass anything they want ........ain’t enough conservatives to stop em in congress.
Talk is cheap. Can she show a SINGLE instance where he has walked the talk?
Why doesn’t somebody prosecute this obvious crime? Conflict of interest is a crime, isn’t it?
BTW, Schultz and Miller get ratings that are barely measurable, which is the best of any leftie talker.
The follow is the “standard” response that I received:

Thank you . . .
. . for contacting me about the “fairness doctrine,” which required broadcasters on public airways to allow time for contrasting points of view. I appreciate that you have taken the time to communicate your views and concerns with me.
The Federal Communications Commission first implemented this doctrine in 1949. At the time, it was concerned about the limited number of radio and television broadcast frequencies being controlled by advocates with a singular point of view. The FCC abandoned the doctrine in the 1980s. Should any proposal to reinstate this doctrine come before me in the Senate, I will be sure to keep your views and concerns in mind.
Thank you again for contacting me. Please do not hesitate to do so again if I can be of assistance to you in the future.
