This guy is the mayor of St. Petersburg, and is a solid individual. He is very popular in the city, and is much more conservative than other names being thrown about for the FL Senate race. He has been instrumental in cleaning up some bad areas in St. Petersburg, and has lowered taxes. I think he's also the tallest mayor in America, at 6'7".

I am impressed with Rick Baker. He spoke at the Sarah Palin Rally in Clearwater last year and was quite eloquent. The only strike against him is that he frequently gets support from the St.Petersburg Times, a newspaper known locally as the Suncoast Pravda.

Also debating running is Congressman Connie Mack IV out of Ft.Myers, the son of the former Senator. I like both but dislike so many 'family inheritance' in the case of Connie Mack. It continues to rub me the wrong way even on our side.
