I looked up the population of St. Petersburg. It's just under 250,000 people. Not a bad starting point for someone seeking statewide office. And since he's 6'7 the debates should be interesting.
Another candidate worth checking out is Dr. Marion Thorpe, the former CMO of Florida who is also putting out feelers for a 2010 Senate run. Apprently he's black and conservative. www.marionthorpe.com

I am surprised by this. It’s possible that Bill Young will retire, and this would leave Baker in a good position to succeed him, with a campaign all in place. But that’s all speculation.
